...Carries Out Extensive Water Reticulation Projects in Jebba and Ilorin Communities. In a bid to continue providing all residents with essential basic amenities, the Kwara State Government has commenced the reconstruction of a bi-water facility and the reticulation of water pipelines in many parts of the state. The Kwara State Government, in partnership with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), has commenced a five-day capacity-building training on Maternal, Perinatal and Child Death Surveillance and Response (MPCDSR) for frontline health workers across selected Local Government Areas in the state. The training, which is being held from June 15 to 20, 2026 at the Silver Gate Hotel, Ilorin, is designed to strengthen the capacity of health workers in identifying, reporting, reviewing, and responding to maternal, perinatal, and child deaths, with the ultimate goal of reducing preventable deaths and improving health outcomes for women and children. …Calls on women to join WAGs. The Nigerian for Women Program-Scale Up project, an economic empowerment initiative of the Federal Government in collaboration with the Kwara State Government, supervised by the Ministry of Women Affairs has began its community entry into communities in Ifelodun Local Government and has called on women aged 18 years and above with means of livelihood to join Women Affinity Groups (WAGs) in their communities. The State Project Coordinator (SPC), Hajia Medinat Idris, made this call recently during the community entry activities in Idofian, Ganmo, Amoyo, Jimba-Oja, Koko Araromi, Sulu, Gbagede, Omupo and Igbaja. Kwara State Government has declared Tuesday June 16 a public holiday in the state in commemoration of the 1448 New Hijra Year. The second batch of 393 pilgrims from Kwara State who participated in this year's Hajj exercise have returned home safely after completing the 2026 Hajj exercise in Saudi Arabia. It was reported that the pilgrims arrived at the General Babatunde Idiagbon International Airport, Ilorin, aboard a Max Air flight at 10:34 p.m. last night, and they were accompanied by a medical official. The pilgrims expressed gratitude to Allah for a successful and spiritually fulfilling Hajj exercise and appreciated the Kwara State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board for the arrangements and support provided throughout their pilgrimage. The Kwara State Ministry of Health, in collaboration with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), has commemorated the International Day of the Midwife with a community sensitization and awareness campaign aimed at promoting antenatal care attendance and hospital delivery among pregnant women. Speaking during the programme, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health, Dr. Taoheed Abdullahi, emphasized the importance of early registration for antenatal care and regular attendance at all scheduled ANC visits. Dr. Abdullahi noted that delivery should take place in health facilities under the supervision of skilled birth attendants to ensure the safety of both mother and child.  He added that early detection and management of pregnancy-related complications remain critical in reducing maternal and newborn  mortality. The Kwara State Government has announced plans to reach 1.2 million children and pregnant women during the 2026 Maternal, Newborn and Child Health (MNCH) Week, while reaffirming that MNCH services remain free at all Primary Health Care facilities across the state. The week-long intervention is scheduled to hold from June 8 to June 12, 2026, across the 16 Local Government Areas of the State and is aimed at improving the health and nutritional status of women and children through the provision of integrated, high-impact health services. The first batch of 560 Kwara State pilgrims have returned home safely after successful completion of the 2026 Hajj pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia. The pilgrims arrived at the Babatunde Idiagbon International Airport, Ilorin, aboard a Max Air flight, at 12:23 pm with three officials of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON). Kwara State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) on Wednesday opened bids for execution of the 2025 FG/UBEC/SUBEB school intervention project. A total  number of 211 bids were received for the 12 lots that were advertised for the 2025 FGN/UBEC/SUBEB Intervention Projects.  The projects to be executed include; the construction of blocks of two classrooms with offices; construction of four-compartment gender-segregated VIP toilets; construction of Safe School Initiative projects; remodeling and renovation of classrooms; fabrication and distribution of 2-seater pupils/students furniture and  drilling of solar powered bees with tank stands amongst other projects.
