Olohungbebe Commends Candidates' Conduct During Ongoing WASSCE

The Kwara State Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Dr. Lawal Olohungbebe, has commended students across Ilorin metropolis for their exemplary conduct during the ongoing West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE), while reiterating the state government’s commitment to credible examinations.

Dr Olohungbebe gave the commendation on Tuesday while monitoring the conduct of the WASSCE Mathematics paper in selected secondary schools within the state capital.

Describing the exercise as orderly and highly impressive, the Commissioner expressed satisfaction with the level of discipline demonstrated by candidates and urged them to remain focused, diligent and committed to excellence throughout the remaining papers.

He applauded teachers, school administrators and examination officials for their professionalism, dedication and unwavering commitment to ensuring a smooth and credible examination process.
Dr Olohungbebe reaffirmed the commitment of the present administration to creating a conducive environment for teaching, learning and the successful conduct of public examinations across the state, noting that the state government will continue to invest in educational infrastructure, teacher development, instructional materials and other critical interventions aimed at enhancing learning outcomes and sustaining academic excellence.

The Commissioner further assured stakeholders that the state government remains committed to supporting examination bodies and relevant institutions to guarantee hitch-free, transparent and credible examinations in all schools across Kwara State.

As part of the monitoring exercise, Dr Olohungbebe visited United Secondary School, Ansar-Ud-Deen Senior Secondary School and Government Secondary School, all located in Ilorin.

IVTEC-KWSG Empowers Youths Under the 2024/2025 Employment Generation Scheme

The Kwara State Government, in collaboration with International Vocational Technical and Entrepreneurship College, (IVTEC), Ajase Ipo, has  commenced batch 8 of the year 2024/2025 admission of Youths Empowerment and Employment Generation Scheme.  The Rector of the College, Engr. (Dr.) Yaru Salihu stated this in Ajase Ipo today in a press statement issued from his office. According to the Rector, the programme which is being sponsored by the Kwara State Government is aimed at promoting a viable and skills acquisition training, to increase the effectiveness of government efforts at combating poverty and youth unemployment. The Kwara State Government, through the Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development, has released the official school calendar for the First Term of the 2025/2026 academic session. The calendar, which applies to all public and private primary and secondary schools across the state, provides a structured outline of key activities for the term. According to the approved schedule, schools are to resume on Monday, 15th September 2025, with the term running for 13 weeks. Continuous Assessment Tests are to hold in the 5th and 9th weeks, while the mid-term break has been fixed for Thursday, 30th – Friday, 31st October 2025.
