Kwara SUBEB holds promotion exam for staff, impressed with their conduct

Kwara State Universal Basic Education Board (KwSUBEB) at the weekend conducted an examination for its workforce, who are due for the 2022 promotion exercise in the state. The examinees comprise teachers and non-teaching staff and those who are working at the Board’s headquarters.  The exercise, which took place across the examination centers in the sixteen local governments of the state, started at 9am. The Executive Chairman of the Board, Prof Sheu Raheem Adaramaja, who monitored some of the centers in Ilorin, expressed satisfaction with the turnout and comportment of the candidates.  He was accompanied on the visit by the Permanent Secretary, State Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development, Mrs Rebecca Olarewaju Bake; and some other  principal officers of the agency.  Among the examination centers visited include St’ Bananas Junior Secondary School (JSS) in Ilorin South LG; United JSS Ilorin West; QUEEN Elizabeth JSS Ilorin  East; Amule JSS Ilorin Ea

The Kwara State Government, in partnership with the Health Accelerated Papilloma Prevention Initiative (HAPPI), has expressed readiness to vaccinate 300,000 girls from ages 9-14 years in the State with Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) Vaccine, to prevent the surge of cervical cancer. The State Mobilization Officer, Kwara State Primary Health Care Development Agency, Dr. Dupe Shittu, disclosed this over the weekend during a state engagement meeting with Media Stakeholders at the E-Phoenix Hotel, GRA, Ilorin. Dr. Shittu stated that "HPV, or Human Papilloma Virus is an endemic group of viruses that can infect the genital areas of both men and women, while many HPV infections can be treated naturally." The Commissioner for Energy, Engr. Sanitation Exercise Holds on Saturday

The monthly sanitation exercise will come up on Saturday, 25th May, 2024 being the last Saturday of the month, commencing from seven to nine o'clock in the morning (7:00 - 9:00 a m.) This month's exercise will be a modified one, therefore members of the public should note that, both vehicular and human movements is allowed across the state, due to the ongoing Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) and Basic Education Certificate Examinations (BECE) organised by National Examinations Council (NECO) as well as Teacher's promotion exercise. Not withstanding, residents of the State are enjoined to fully participate in the exercise, by cleaning both residential and business environments.   As usual, Waste Management trucks would be available for waste collections and subsequent disposal of same, at the dump site and illegal dump sites in some of the major areas within the metropolis, will be cleared. KWSG Takes Campaign Against Drug Abuse to Schools

The Kwara State Drug Control Committee has commenced mass mobilization and campaign to sensitize students on the dangers of drugs abuse in the society. The Commissioner for Health, Dr Amina Ahmed El-lmam who disclosed this today at the sensitization programme for the students and staff of the Government Secondary School, Ilorin on the effects of drugs abuse in the Society, called on them to shun all forms of drugs abuse. The Kwara State Director of pharmaceutical services, Pharmacist Barakat Olarewaju who represented the Commissioner for health highlighted the effects of drugs abuse which include untimely deaths and mental disorders and urged the students to desist from taking any hard drug which could destroy their lives.
