NAFDAC visits Ministry Ahead of Pharmacovigilance Assessment

The Permanent Secretary of the Kwara State Ministry of Health, Dr. Taoheed Abdullahi, has commended the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) for its unwavering commitment to safeguarding the health of Nigerians through its various regulatory and public health programmes.

Dr. Abdullahi gave the commendation while receiving the State Coordinator of NAFDAC, Pharm. (Mrs.) Mariam Issa-Onilu, and her team on a courtesy visit to formally notify the Ministry of the Agency's routine Pharmacovigilance assessment of healthcare facilities across Kwara State.

The Permanent Secretary emphasized the need to strengthen Pharmacovigilance Committees (PVCs) in health facilities and called on NAFDAC to intensify public awareness on pharmacovigilance through the production and airing of jingles, stakeholder sensitization programmes, community outreach activities, and the distribution of educational materials such as flyers and posters.

Dr. Abdullahi further assured NAFDAC of the Ministry's support and pledged to facilitate the Agency's participation in the Health Gist programme to promote greater public understanding of medicine safety and adverse drug reaction reporting.

Earlier, the State Coordinator of NAFDAC, Pharm. (Mrs.) Mariam Issa-Onilu, stated that the Agency remains committed to embedding robust pharmacovigilance principles and practices across the healthcare system in line with the Nigeria National Pharmacovigilance Policy and Implementation Framework 2020.

She explained that the assessment would focus on the structure and functionality of Pharmacovigilance Committees, reporting channels for Adverse Drug Reactions (ADRs), risk management and signal detection processes, as well as collaboration between PVC units and other stakeholders.

IVTEC-KWSG Empowers Youths Under the 2024/2025 Employment Generation Scheme

The Kwara State Government, in collaboration with International Vocational Technical and Entrepreneurship College, (IVTEC), Ajase Ipo, has  commenced batch 8 of the year 2024/2025 admission of Youths Empowerment and Employment Generation Scheme.  The Rector of the College, Engr.
