Kwara SUBEB opens bids for 2025 FGN/UBEC/SUBEB intervention projects

Kwara State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) on Wednesday opened bids for execution of the 2025 FG/UBEC/SUBEB school intervention project.

A total  number of 211 bids were received for the 12 lots that were advertised for the 2025 FGN/UBEC/SUBEB Intervention Projects. 

The projects to be executed include; the construction of blocks of two classrooms with offices; construction of four-compartment gender-segregated VIP toilets; construction of Safe School Initiative projects; remodeling and renovation of classrooms; fabrication and distribution of 2-seater pupils/students furniture and  drilling of solar powered bees with tank stands amongst other projects.

Performing the bids opening in Ilorin, the Kwara State Governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, explained that the exercise is a demonstration of his administration’s commitment to transparency, accountability, competitiveness, and strict adherence to due process in public procurement.

"This occasion marks another important milestone in our collective efforts to strengthen basic education delivery in our dear state, Kwara State, through the provision of quality infrastructure and learning facilities for our schools across the 16 Local Government Areas of the states.

"The projects under this intervention will further advance the vision and reinforce our determination to improve learning outcomes across the states", he explained.

AbdulRazaq who spoke through the State Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Dr Lawal Olohungbebe, emphasized that the administration is committed to ensuring that every child in Kwara State has access to a safe, conducive, inclusive, and quality learning environment.  

According to him,"We are determined to ensure that all procurement activities are conducted in a fair, open, and credible manner that inspires public confidence and guarantees values for money.

"And I am using this medium to express my profound appreciation to the Universal Basic Education Commission in Abuja for its continued support and partnership with the state". 

The Governor therefore, encouraged prospective contractors to maintain the highest standards of professionalism, integrity, and compliance throughout the process. 

For his part, the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) Chairman, Prof Shehu Raheem Adaramaja, applauded Governor AbdulRazaq for ensuring regular and timely payment of UBEC counterpart funds from 2014 to 2025.

He also praised the Government for its strategic investments in infrastructure, teacher recruitment, Teachers professional development programmes, instructional materials and digital learning initiatives. 

His words:"Education remains the cornerstone of sustainable development and the most effective instrument for human capital transformation. 

"It is in recognition of this critical role that the administration of Mallam Abdul Rahman AbdulRazaq, has continued to accord priority attention to the education sector through strategic investments in infrastructure, teacher recruitment, capacity building programmes, instructional materials, digital learning initiatives, and effective monitoring mechanisms.

"The administration has consistently demonstrated its resolve to create an enabling and conducive learning environment capable of producing future leaders who are intellectually equipped and globally competitive".

Responding on behalf of the contractors, Alhaji Maruf Ahmed promised to carry out the projects in line with specifications and urged the state government to continue to patronise indigenous contractors.

The event was attended by government officials, both from the State and Federal establishments, including: the Chairman, Kwara House Assembly Committee on Education, Hon Muhammad Salihu Baba; Chairman House of Assembly Committee on Water Resources Hon Yunusa Oniboki;  Acting Head of Service, Dr Funke Shittu; representatives of Executive Secretary of UBEC, ICPC and the State Public Procurement Agency.

IVTEC-KWSG Empowers Youths Under the 2024/2025 Employment Generation Scheme

The Kwara State Government, in collaboration with International Vocational Technical and Entrepreneurship College, (IVTEC), Ajase Ipo, has  commenced batch 8 of the year 2024/2025 admission of Youths Empowerment and Employment Generation Scheme.  The Rector of the College, Engr. The calendar, which applies to all public and private primary and secondary schools across the state, provides a structured outline of key activities for the term.
