Coordinator KWACReSAL Receives NANNS' Sir Ahmadu Bello Leadership Merit Award

The State Project Coordinator (SPC) of the Kwara Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes (KWACReSAL), Alhaji Shamsideen Olatunbosun Aregbe has been conferred the Sir Ahmadu Bello (Sardauna) Leadership Merit Award by the National Association of Northern Nigerian Students (NANNS) on Tuesday in his office. While receiving the NANNS delegation, the SPC appreciated the students body for the recognition, while describing their objectives as lofty. Kwara Govt to Partner CAC on Students in Entrepreneurship

The Kwara State Government has reiterated its  commitment to partner with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) to empower students in entrepreneurship. The Commissioner for Tertiary Education Dr. (Mrs) Mary Ronke Arinde made this known today in a meeting with principal officers from the Commission in her Office. Kwara TESCOM thanks job applicants as recruitment process enters final lap

* says 4,163 applicants interviewed out of 5,290 invitees * ⁠Commission says merit, equity, needs key metrics for finalists * ⁠shortlisted candidates will be contacted: Chairman Kwara State Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM) on Tuesday commended all the applicants who took part in its recruitment process, saying the attention the programme received underscores high public confidence in the administration of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.  TESCOM Chairman Mallam Bello Taoheed said a total of 4,163 applicants were screened and interviewed, down from the 5,290 originally invited for the exercise.  “The difference in the two figures comes from the applicants who did not turn up for the interview or did not meet the well-stated criteria for the screening,” he said.  “Out of the 4,163 screened and interviewed, 2,169 are females, while 1,994 are males. The Kwara State Amirul-Hajj and the Olupo of Ajase-Ipo, Oba Ismail Yahya Alebiosu, has restated his commitment to collaborating with the State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board to ensure a successful, hitch-free Hajj operation this year. Kwara Govt Frowns at Unaccredited IJMB Coaching Centres

The Kwara State Government has registered its concern over the proliferation of unapproved Interim Joint Matriculation Board (IJMB) coaching centres scattered across the State.  The Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Dr. (Mrs) Mary Arinde made this known today in a meeting held with all the approved IJMB centres at the conference hall of the Ministry in Ilorin. Dr Arinde said, the State government has the best records on the IJMB programmes so far and would firmly maintain the quality and standard of education in the State. She reiterated that only nine schools were approved for the IJMB  programmes in the State, adding that the centres have conducive learning environments. She emphasized the need to adhere strictly to the rules and regulations of the examination body. MWR, KWIRS STRENGTHEN COLLABORATION FOR REVENUE DRIVE

The Kwara State Government has reiterated the need to strengthen collaboration between Ministry of Water Resources and the Kwara State Internal Revenue Service (KWIRS) in order to enhance revenue drive across the state. The Commissioner for Water Resources, Hon. Usman Yunusa Lade, stated this on Tuesday during a meeting with representatives from KWIRS, in his office. Hon. Kwara State Government on Tuesday flagged off a Coding and Digital Literacy training programme for at least 50 public primary and junior secondary schools across the state. The programme was organised by the Office of the Special Assistant to the Governor on Digital and Innovation, Hon. Ishola Kayode. Flagging off the programme on behalf of Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, Senior Adviser and Counsellor to the Governor, Alhaji Sa'adu Salau, said the digital coding initiative was to strengthen the impactful investments of the administration in the education sector. KW-PPA Sets up Committee to Review Contract Documents

The Kwara State government has set up a six-member ministerial  committee to review the site handover document and project completion certificate, currently being used in the State for efficient service delivery. Performing the inauguration of the body, on behalf of the government, on Tuesday, the General Manager of the State Public Procurement Agency (KW-PPA), QS Raheem Abdulbaki, said the review of the contract documents is aimed at achieving uniformity, standard, and guarantee computation of actual contract durations for public contracts in the State. The General Manager, who charged the members to work diligently to justify their pick, disclosed that the committee has only one week to submit its report.  He further said that the body was also saddled with the mandate to determine the direction of focus for this year's capacity building training programme for construction professionals. The Kwara Agro-climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes (KWACReSAL) has hosted consultants from the ACRESAL's Federal Project Management Unit (FPMU), Abuja to ensure adequate compliance to the component of "C1," which bothers on the strengthening of institutional policies to strengthen projects in the State.  The visit was aimed at assessing the impact of the project as it relates to the institutional strengthening of the 3-Line MDAs of the project i.e. Ministries of Environment, Water Resources as well as Agriculture and Rural Development.  The State Commissioner for Environment, who is also the Chairman State Steering Committee, Hajia Nafisat Musa Buge, while hosting the consultants explained that the project has been of immense benefits to the State.
