KWSG Reiterates Commitment to Mining, Solid Minerals

Kwara State Government has reiterated Commitments towards ensuring productive opportunities for potential and existing Solid Minerals operators, Artisinal miners and exporters in mining practices across the state, to boost her Internally Generated Revenue.

The state Commissioner for Solid Minerals Development, Dr Alabi Afees Abolore stated this today, at a stakeholders forum  tagged "Accessing Financial Opportunities for Solid Minerals Export Competitiveness," at Elite Tranquil Hotel, Ilorin, the State Capital.

Dr Abolore who was the special guest at the event,  said the programme was aimed at highlighting the challenges faced by the mining sector in terms of financial accessibility, as well as potential solutions and opportunities, for growth, adding that globally, the mining sector remains capital intensive, which also comes with risks.

Dr. Abolore therefore pledged the current administration, under the leadership of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq would harness productive avenues, for impactful growth  and development, in the mining sector, in order to drive the economy and empower stakeholders in mining sectors, across the state.

He advised stakeholders to form  themselves into cooperative groups, in order to ease their financial sustainability in the business, in terms of loan accessibility.

Abolore also dwell on other financing options or windows available in the mining sector, for the purpose of investment growth in exploration, development and exports.

He assured the gathering of government's supports at all times, to further up scale potential and existing Solid Minerals operators, Artisinal miners and exporters, within the value chain of mining sector across the State.

In her remarks the Executive Director, Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEC), Mrs Nonye Ayeni affirmed that the event is in line with the Council's mantra, an initiative designed to enhance the increase in volume and value of exports, for revenue and economic sustainability.

Mrs Ayeni stressed further that the stakeholders forum will ensure that more business with capacity to perform in line with international standards are exploited, to benefit the state and miners as well. 

She pledged the Council's Commitments towards enhancing the Value-Chain of Solid Minerals sector, for global markets, Establishment of Solid Clusters among others.

Dignitaries at the event were; representative of the state Commissioner for Business Innovation and Technology, Deputy Director Commerce, Alhaji Ibrahim Sanni; and Federal Mines Officer in charge of Kwara State Engr. Lamidi Moruf.

Others are; President Kwara State miners Association Otunba Ayodeji Akinboyowa, relevant stakeholders and others in the mining sector.

Kwara TESCOM releases CBT results, to announce cutoffs ahead of interview, screenings

Kwara State Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM) said applicants for the public school teaching jobs can now check the results of the CBT done earlier on Saturday.  TESCOM Chairman Mallam Bello Taoheed said all the applicants who sat the test can access their results on the portal. "This is the first step after the exams. The Commission will soon release the cutoffs that would determine the candidates who proceed to the interview stage, among other things," he said. "At the end of the CBT, a total of 8,529 sat and completed the exam across the centres. The breakdowns are as follows: COED Ilorin, 2,891; Ilorin West LGA, 1,991; UNILORIN, 1,677; Lafiagi, 812; Offa, 586; Oko, 297; Patigi, 275. A total of 9,459 applicants had been invited for the CBT across the seven centres. The remaining applicants did not show up for the exercise.
