KWACReSAL Hosts Project Consultants....To assess impact of projects on MDAs ...

The Kwara Agro-climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes (KWACReSAL) has hosted consultants from the ACRESAL's Federal Project Management Unit (FPMU), Abuja to ensure adequate compliance to the component of "C1," which bothers on the strengthening of institutional policies to strengthen projects in the State. 

The visit was aimed at assessing the impact of the project as it relates to the institutional strengthening of the 3-Line MDAs of the project i.e. Ministries of Environment, Water Resources as well as Agriculture and Rural Development. 

The State Commissioner for Environment, who is also the Chairman State Steering Committee, Hajia Nafisat Musa Buge, while hosting the consultants explained that the project has been of immense benefits to the State.

She noted some of the Institutional strengthening activities executed by the project under the component "C1" which included: the Donation of Hilux vehicles and ICT equipment to the three line MDAs, distribution of tractors to the 16 Local Governments, distribution of energy saving cooking stoves to rural women, distribution of motorcycles to extension agents, and sensitization activities in collaboration with the line MDAs, among other activities.

Speaking further, Buge canvassed for more support from the ACReSAL Project to help broaden the scope of each MDA and the State at large for sustainability.

While speaking during the interaction with the three MDAs, the Lead Consultant, Dr Paul Andrew Gwaza and his colleague, Dr. Akintunde Akinmolayan, both of the Consultant African Centre for Peace and Human Dignity, said their core mandate was the assessment of the impacts of the project in strengthening their institutions. "The assessment will help to evaluate the support that the project has rendered to the MDAs and encourage the State Project Management Unit (SPMU) to do more. Additionally, it will help to elicit more support and technical assistance for implementation and sustainability of the project in the State", he added.

Dr. Gwaza stressed that the evaluation result will be compared with other sister projects in other states to learn and adopt other techniques required for relevant interventions. 

Also, playing host to the consultants, the Commissioner for Water Resource, who was represented by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mrs Christianah Omolola Asonibare, submitted that the unit of the ACReSAL Project has significantly helped in increasing the outreach of its programmes as well as help in capacity building of its staff.

The Chairman, Ilorin South Local Government Area, Hon. Nuhu AbdulMajeed Podo expressed appreciation to the ACReSAL Project for its tremendous impact on the lives of citizens.

Kwara TESCOM releases CBT results, to announce cutoffs ahead of interview, screenings

Kwara State Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM) said applicants for the public school teaching jobs can now check the results of the CBT done earlier on Saturday.  TESCOM Chairman Mallam Bello Taoheed said all the applicants who sat the test can access their results on the portal. "This is the first step after the exams. The Commission will soon release the cutoffs that would determine the candidates who proceed to the interview stage, among other things," he said.
