Coordinator KWACReSAL Receives NANNS' Sir Ahmadu Bello Leadership Merit Award

The State Project Coordinator (SPC) of the Kwara Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes (KWACReSAL), Alhaji Shamsideen Olatunbosun Aregbe has been conferred the Sir Ahmadu Bello (Sardauna) Leadership Merit Award by the National Association of Northern Nigerian Students (NANNS) on Tuesday in his office.

While receiving the NANNS delegation, the SPC appreciated the students body for the recognition, while describing their objectives as lofty. Alhaji Aregbe said the award is not just for him alone,  but his dedicated colleagues at KWACReSAL who have been tireless in their support for him as the Coordinator of the Project.

He also used the opportunity to highlight the mandate and activities of the ACReSAL Project.The Coordinator said the ACReSAL Project is present in all the 19 States of Northern Nigeria, including the FCT, Abuja.

“Our activities include restoring degraded lands, enhancing climate-resilient agricultural practices, promoting a safer and greener environment, and empowering community members to boost their livelihoods”, he added.He stressed that the recognition will spur him to do more for the growth and development of the society.

NANNS is the umbrella body of the Nigerian students in the 19 States of Northern Nigeria and the Federal Capital Territory Abuja. While commending Alhaji Aregbe’s leadership ability and feats so far at the Kwara ACReSAL, NNANS described him as an icon of societal development, whom they are proud to identify with.

The NANNS delegation  comprised of the National President, Comrade Hassan Usman El-Yakoub; National Secretary, Ambassador Abdulrahman Ibrahim; Gender Director, Hajia Faridah AbdulKareem; and Comrade Adam Imam.

Speaking on behalf of the delegation, the National Secretary, Amb. Ibrahim said NANNS has members across tertiary institutions in the North, including the University of Ilorin, in Kwara State. According to him, NANNS is committed to providing a conducive learning atmosphere for all students and encouraging vocational studies amongst them for self-employment.

“We also sensitise our members against examination malpractices and promote good conduct in the students community.We have seen the work you do at the Kwara ACReSAL as the State Project Coordinator. We commend your contributions to societal development and service to humanity. This is why we have decided to recognise you and present this merit award to you as an encouragement to do more for the society,” he said.

The award presentation was witnessed by management staff of the Kwara ACReSAL, including the Project Engineer, Engr. Hussein Abubakar; Project Procurement Officer, Mr. Olumide Dada; Project Accountant, Mrs Oluwakemi Balogun; GIS/MIS Officer, Mr. Olagunju Sherif Abiodun; Monitoring and Evaluation Officer, Mr. Saka Rauf; Communication Officer, Mrs Taiwo Okanlawon; and Gender Based Violence/Admin Officer, Mrs Eniola Aina.

Kwara TESCOM releases CBT results, to announce cutoffs ahead of interview, screenings

Kwara State Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM) said applicants for the public school teaching jobs can now check the results of the CBT done earlier on Saturday.  TESCOM Chairman Mallam Bello Taoheed said all the applicants who sat the test can access their results on the portal. "This is the first step after the exams. The Commission will soon release the cutoffs that would determine the candidates who proceed to the interview stage, among other things," he said. "At the end of the CBT, a total of 8,529 sat and completed the exam across the centres. The breakdowns are as follows: COED Ilorin, 2,891; Ilorin West LGA, 1,991; UNILORIN, 1,677; Lafiagi, 812; Offa, 586; Oko, 297; Patigi, 275. A total of 9,459 applicants had been invited for the CBT across the seven centres. The remaining applicants did not show up for the exercise.
