KWEPA Receives NASWDEN, Pledges Stronger Collaboration on Sustainable Waste Management

The General Manager of the Kwara State Environmental Protection Agency (KWEPA), Hon. Jide Aina, has received the executive members of the National Association of Scrap and Waste Dealers Employers of Nigeria (NASWDEN) at the Agency’s headquarters in Ilorin on Monday.

The visit, led by the Kwara State Vice Chairman of NASWDEN, Alhaji Lukman O. Ibrahim, was aimed at strengthening the partnership between the association and the Agency, particularly in promoting sustainable waste management and environmental protection across the State.

In his remarks, Alhaji Ibrahim commended KWEPA for its consistent efforts in fostering a cleaner and healthier environment in Kwara State, affirming NASWDEN’s commitment to supporting the Agency’s mission by encouraging responsible waste handling and scrap collection practices among its members.

In response, Hon. Aina welcomed the NASWDEN delegation and lauded their proactive approach towards collaborations, highlighting the crucial role of synergy between government institutions and private sector stakeholders in achieving effective environmental sustainability and resource recovery.

The General Manager further assured the association of KWEPA’s continued support in creating a conducive environment for legitimate waste-related enterprises, while upholding regulatory frameworks that safeguard public health and promote security of citizens.

The meeting concluded with a mutual commitment to enhancing communication, capacity building, and compliance monitoring within the State’s waste management value chain.
