CCB pays Sensitization visit to HOS

… Introduces reviewed asset declaration form

The Office of Kwara State Head of Service received the management of the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB) in State on the new modalities of filling the Asset Declaration Form as Constitutional Right of the public Officers. 

The meeting was held at the HOS conference room, recently in Ilorin.

The visiting team was led by the State Director Code of Conduct Bureau, Dr. Yusuf Sherifat, who said the purpose of the visit was to intimate the public officers through the Office of the Head of Service on the new features introduced to the Code of Conduct form.

Dr. Yusuf,   emphasized the importance of asset declaration in eradicating corruption and promoting honesty and transparency in the society. She noted that the new form was designed to provide a more comprehensive picture of public officers' financial status.

 

According to her, "In the past, people articulated that the  bureau only focused on asset declarations, now we have liabilities included. If you are owed, you can include it in the form and if you are on loan you can also include it.

The system that gave us these procedures will also know and get the feedback on what we are using to survive. Bureau gives feedback to the system."

She explained that civil servants are not expected to do anything that will jeopardize the aims and objective of Civil Service rules, adding that double employment are not expected of the public officers as a matter of prohibition receiving salaries from two government sources.

The Director also added that the form can be filled online, indicating that anybody can download the form from the website and fill within the 30days ultimatum given for the submission of the form.

In her welcome remarks, the Ag. HOS and Permanent Secretary, Service Welfare, Dr. Mrs. Olufunke Mercy Shittu, stated that the Office of HOS is where sensitive information are disseminated from one office to another as well as ensuring that things are done the right way.

Dr. Shittu further stressed that the visit would enrich the Public Servants knowledge about the rules and procedures that were ordinarily being overlooked and the significance of the rules and expected responses to certain issue that bothers on transparency, accountability and all other rules that code of the Conduct needs for improvement. 

She however assures the CCB team that the Office of the Head of Service will prepare MDAs to receive the CCB on similar visits for the enlightenment of workers across board.

The meeting featured presentation of the CCB New Form to the Office of the Head of Service.
