Kwara Supports Youth Innovations, Entrepreneurship

In a bid to support youth-driven innovations and entrepreneurship across the State, the Ministry of Youth Development has harped on developing initiatives and approaches, aimed at positioning youths for  the future in line with the government's vision of impactful empowerment for young citizens.

The Commissioner for Youth Development, Amb. Ndanusa Usman Shehu stated this during the inaugural meeting of the State Steering Committee of the Young Africa Innovates, at the Commissioner's office, recently.

The Commissioner welcomed the steering committee and Young Africa Innovates (YAI) for their efforts in investing in Kwara’s youth, reaffirming the commitment of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s administration to supporting youth-focused programmes that promote innovation, self-reliance, and socioeconomic development.

He noted that the YAI's impact will be felt in strengthening the capacity of innovation hubs to support young people to contribute to socio-econonic development, while also creating job opportunities.

He explained that the initiative is designed to empower young creatives across various fields by providing the support, skills, and resources needed to turn their talents into sustainable ventures, while noting that the focus of the programme in Kwara State will be on creative areas such as para-sports development for persons with disabilities, footwear production, digital content creation, and advertising, among others. 

Amb. Ndanusa stressed that the steering committee will help facilitate, implement and conduct 
evaluations of programme activities in the State. “This committee is not just symbolic; it is strategic. It will guide policy directions, ensure transparency, and amplify the voices of young innovators at the grassroots," he submitted.

The State steering committee is composed of the representatives of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP),  Ministry of Business Innovation and Technology, Ministry of Youth Development,  Governor's office, and the National Council for Women Society. They all expressed optimism that the project will create sustainable impact and lasting transformations in the lives of young Kwarans.

The Project Manager of Young Africa Innovates, Mrs. Ifeyinwa Egwaoje,  commended the Kwara State Ministry of Youth Development for its strong commitment to youth empowerment, innovation, and entrepreneurship.

Speaking during the inauguration of the State Steering Committee, she noted that the committee members will serve as a backbone for ensuring the successful implementation of youth-focused programmes across the 16 local government areas of the State.

She further emphasized that the initiative, in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and Mastercard Foundation, aims to provide mentorship, funding opportunities, and business development support to young people.

Kwara Education Ministry Commences Online Placement Registration for 2025 Common Entrance Examination
