Kwara Govt Launches P-CNG Vehicles for Affordable Transport Scheme

The Kwara State Government has launched the operation of the Compressed Nitrogen Gas (CNG) vehicles as part of efforts to promote affordable, reliable and economical  transportation to residents of the State. Performing the official launching at the Ministry of Transportation Headquarters in Ilorin, on Monday, the Commissioner for Transportation, Hon. Lafia Aliyu Korasabi described the initiative as aligning with the ongoing Federal Government's Transportation scheme was targeted at providing succour on the financial burden facing the larger population of Nigerians on transportation. Needs Assessment Exercise Holds in Gwanara Community

The Needs Assessment Exercise for Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVC) in the three Senatorial Districts has also been conducted in Gwanara Community of Baruten Local Government Area of Kwara State, one of the selected beneficiaries for the first phase of the exercise, meant to update the state government on the educational needs of OVC in the state. Kwara Warns Farmers of Flash Flood Alert, Urges Swift Precaution

The Kwara State Government, through the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, has issued a strong advisory to all crop and fish farmers across the State—particularly those located near rivers, floodplains, and low-lying areas—to take immediate precautions in light of the flash flood alert recently released by the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet). Although Kwara is not among the 19 states listed as high-risk in NiMet’s July 2025 advisory, the government notes that the unpredictable nature of the climate and increasing rainfall intensity may still pose serious threats to farmlands and agricultural livelihoods across the State. Flash floods, which can occur suddenly and without much warning, may result in waterlogging, erosion, pond overflows, and the destruction of crops, farm structures, and input stores if timely preventive action is not taken. KWACReSAL Holds Workshop on Grievance Redress Mechanisms, Gender Based Violence for Staff, Stakeholders

In an effort to promote gender sensitivity and effective grievance handling mechanisms, the Kwara Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes (KWACReSAL) has recently organised a five-day training of trainers capacity workshop on Grievance Redress Mechanisms (GRM) and Gender Based Violence (GBV) for its staff and stakeholders across the 16 local government areas of the State. The workshop, which was facilitated by the Centre for Nonviolence and Gender Advocacy in Nigeria (CENGAIN) held at the Somewatt Fresh Hotels in Ilorin, the State Capital. The workshop was aimed to strengthening GRM and GBV reporting systems in Kwara State, particularly within the ACReSAL Project.
