KWSPHCDA, VisionSpring Screen Staff at Deputy Governor’s Office, Dispense Free Reading Glasses

The Kwara State Primary Health Care Development Agency (KWSPHCDA), in collaboration with VisionSpring, has conducted an eye screening outreach for staff at the Office of the Deputy Governor of Kwara State, Mr Kayode Alabi.

The outreach, conducted on Wednesday, builds on the recent commemoration of World Sight Day themed “Love Your Eyes,” provided eye screening services for 48 staff, with free reading glasses dispensed to beneficiaries to promote healthy vision and improve access to essential eye care services.

The exercise followed the Deputy Governor’s expression of interest in extending the eye care intervention to staff in his office after receiving the VisionSpring team during a courtesy visit by the delegation.

Mr Alabi expressed appreciation to KWSPHCDA and VisionSpring for extending the initiative to his staff and commended their efforts to improve access to eye care services.

He encouraged the staff to prioritise their eye health by undergoing regular eye check-ups and seeking prompt medical attention whenever they experience vision-related problems.

The Deputy Governor also urged the beneficiaries to take proper care of the reading glasses provided to them to ensure their durability and continued usefulness.

He emphasised the importance of maintaining good eye health in promoting overall well-being and productivity.

The intervention demonstrates the importance of sustained partnerships between the Kwara State Government and development partners in expanding access to eye care services beyond community outreaches and ensuring that public servants also benefit from preventive eye health interventions.

The initiative further reinforces KWSPHCDA’s commitment, under the leadership of its Executive Secretary, Professor Nusirat Elelu, to strengthening collaborations with development partners to promote eye health awareness, encourage the early detection of vision problems, and improve the quality of life of residents across Kwara State.
