KWSG Reaffirms Commitment to Students’ Welfare, Youth Development

The Kwara State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to promoting the welfare, development and overall wellbeing of students across the state, while encouraging student leaders to partner with government in advancing policies and programmes that positively impact young people.

The Commissioner for Youth Development, Amb. Ndanusa Usman Shehu, stated this when the newly elected executives of the National Association of Kwara State Students (NAKSS), led by the President-elect, Comrade Mohammed Issa Patigi, paid a familiarisation visit to the Ministry of Youth Development in Ilorin.

Amb. Shehu emphasised the importance of collaboration between government and student leadership, noting that effective engagement with students remains essential to understanding their needs and developing initiatives that address their concerns.

The Commissioner appreciated the Executive Governor of the State, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, CON, for his commitment to youth and student development, particularly for providing the necessary facilities and platforms for students to carry out their responsibilities effectively.

He also commended the Governor for giving students and youth organisations the freedom to engage with government and express their concerns.

Amb. Ndanusa charged the new NAKSS leadership to make the welfare and interests of Kwara State students their priority while demonstrating unity, accountability and responsible leadership in representing their colleagues.

He assured the association of the Ministry’s readiness to collaborate on policies, programmes and initiatives aimed at improving students’ welfare, skills development, empowerment and access to opportunities.

Earlier, the NAKSS President-elect, Comrade Mohammed Issa Patigi, said the visit was aimed at establishing a strong working relationship with the Ministry and identifying areas of collaboration that would positively impact students across the state.

He expressed the association’s readiness to work closely with the Ministry on policies and programmes that promote the academic, social and economic wellbeing of Kwara State students.
