Kwara boosts Community, Traditional Institutions’ Engagement on Healthcare Delivery, as KW-HMB Visits Etsu Tsaragi

The Kwara State Government has strengthened its engagement with traditional institutions and community stakeholders in Tsaragi, Edu Local Government Area, as part of ongoing efforts to sustain the improvements in healthcare service delivery and address the health needs of residents across the state.

The engagement was highlighted during a working visit by the Kwara State Hospitals Management Board (KW-HMB) to the Palace of the Etsu Tsaragi, Alhaji Aliyu Abdullahi Kpotum, where the Board interacted with the traditional institution, community leaders and youths on healthcare needs, service delivery, and ways of improving residents’ access to quality medical services.

The visit, led by the Executive Secretary of the KW-HMB, Dr Abdulraheem Malik, also provided an opportunity for the Board to inspect the Tsaragi Cottage Hospital and assess its infrastructure, equipment, staffing, and capacity to effectively serve the people of Tsaragi and neighbouring communities.

Following the inspection, the Board identified key areas requiring attention and intervention, including infrastructure rehabilitation, the provision of modern medical equipment, and the digitalisation of hospital operations.

Dr Malik said the state government remained committed to ensuring that secondary healthcare facilities across Kwara State were adequately equipped and staffed to provide accessible and quality healthcare services.

According to him, the planned interventions are aimed at strengthening healthcare delivery, improving patient care, and reducing the need for residents to travel long distances to access medical services.

“We are committed to ensuring that our health facilities are adequately staffed and properly equipped to provide the quality healthcare services envisaged by this administration.”

Dr Malik also appealed to the people of Tsaragi and neighbouring communities to patronise the cottage hospital and make effective use of its services, noting that increased patronage would support its sustainability and encourage continued investment.

Responding, the Etsu Tsaragi, Alhaji Aliyu Abdullahi Kpotum, commended the KW-HMB for the visit and appreciated the state government, under the leadership of His Excellency, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, for its efforts to improve the cottage hospital and other hospitals across the state.

He assured the Board of the traditional institution’s support and cooperation, particularly in encouraging residents to patronise the hospital.

Also speaking, the Director of Medical Services, KW-HMB, Dr Femi Joseph, appreciated the Etsu Tsaragi for his warm reception, support, and assurances of cooperation with the Board.
