KW-PPA Praises IVTEC for Improved Procurement Practices

The Kwara State Public Procurement Agency (KW-PPA) has expressed satisfaction with the significant improvements recorded in the procurement processes of the International Vocational, Technical and Entrepreneurship Centre (IVTEC), Ajasse-Ipo, Irepodun Local Government Area of the state.

The Agency also praised the Management of the Centre for its record keeping during the 2025 financial year, noting that it was a major shift from past experiences.

The commendation was made by the General Manager/Chief Executive Officer of the KW-PPA, QS. Raheem Abdulbaki, while presenting the outcome of the Agency’s 2025 Procurement Processes Review Exercise at the Centre.

QS. Abdulbaki said the review revealed noticeable improvements in the procurement processes and procedures of the Centre, particularly in the maintenance and keeping of procurement records.

He described the development as commendable, noting that it demonstrated the Centre’s positive response to the need for greater transparency, accountability, efficiency and compliance with public procurement requirements.

According to him, proper documentation and effective record keeping are fundamental to public procurement as they provide an audit trail, promote transparency and protect both institutions and public officers by demonstrating that due process has been followed.

The KW-PPA boss therefore, urged the Management of the Centre to sustain the progress recorded and continue to strengthen areas identified for improvement during the review.

He also called for regular training and capacity building for procurement and relevant administrative officers to deepen their understanding of procurement procedures, documentation, planning, contract management, record keeping and the principles of transparency, competition, fairness and value for money.

QS. Abdulbaki also encouraged the Centre to see procurement not merely as an administrative requirement but as a strategic tool for achieving its institutional objectives.

He explained that effective procurement planning and professional management would enable the Centre to obtain better value from public resources, ensure timely delivery of goods, works and services, and ultimately contribute to improving vocational, entrepreneurial and technical education in the State.

QS. Abdulbaki therefore, assured the Management that the KW-PPA would continue to provide professional guidance, oversight and capacity-building support to Ministries, Departments and Agencies and other government institutions to improve their procurement performance.

He further reiterated the Agency’s commitment to building a procurement system that is transparent, accountable, efficient and professional, while ensuring value for money in the utilisation of public resources

In her remarks the Acting  Registrar of the Center, Mrs Eniola Orire, commended the KW-PPA for its commitment to ensuring that procurement processes across the State are subjected to thorough review and conducted in accordance with established rules and procedures.

She particularly expressed gratitude to the Executive Governor of Kwara State for his commitment to strengthening due process, transparency and accountability in public procurement across the State.
