El-Imam Receives Overall Best Performing Commissioner In Kwara State
Kwara State Commissioner for Health, Dr Amina Ahmed El-Imam, has received the Overall Best Performing Commissioner Award in Kwara State at the Kwara Political Awards.
The award, which recognised her contributions to the health sector, was received by Dr El-Imam in appreciation of her leadership and the efforts of the Ministry of Health and its agencies towards improving healthcare delivery in the state.
In her remarks, Dr El-Imam attributed the recognition to the opportunity and support provided by the administration of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, saying the award was not only a personal achievement but a reflection of the collective efforts of stakeholders across the health sector.
She said, “It is not because we are the best. It is because we are lucky, privileged and blessed. We had no choice but to give our absolute best as subsector leaders and as the Commissioner for Health.”
Dr El-Imam dedicated the award to Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, whom she described as the leader who had created the enabling environment for members of his cabinet to thrive and deliver on their responsibilities.
She noted that even the most committed efforts of a public official could amount to little without the support and leadership of the head of the administration.
The Commissioner expressed appreciation to the organisers for recognising the work being done in the health sector, noting that health outcomes were often intangible and easily taken for granted when people are healthy.
“Health is intangible. Health is invisible. When you are healthy, you take it for granted. So, for you to have recognised that we are working, we do not take that for granted. We are indeed very grateful,” she said.
She also acknowledged the presence of management staff of the Ministry of Health, directors, heads of health agencies and other stakeholders at the event, describing their presence as a demonstration of their shared commitment to the development of Kwara State.
Dr El-Imam further appreciated members of her community and political associates who turned out to support her at the award ceremony, noting that their presence demonstrated their commitment to activities that celebrate and support the progress of the state.
She said the award belonged to the entire health family, including the Ministry, its departments, directorates and agencies, and thanked them for their contributions to the progress recorded in the sector.
Also speaking at the event, the Kwara State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prince Sunday Fagbemi, said the state had witnessed significant changes under the present administration.
He said the APC remained committed to moving the state forward, while urging party supporters and stakeholders to sustain their support for the administration.
Fagbemi said the party would continue to focus on consolidating the gains recorded in the state, stressing that the progress being witnessed was as a result of the collective efforts of the government and the people of Kwara.
In his welcome address the convener, Mr Emmanuel Remilekun noted that the awardee were selected by merit for their outstanding work and results.
He added that the State Government has made impact in all the sectors but health and infrastructure development had been top on the list.
Other Awardees, including the Executive Secretaries of Kwara State Primary Healthcare Development Agency, Professor Nusirat Elelu and Kwara Health Insurance Agency, Dr Olubunmi Jetawo-Winter, both of which dedicated the award of recognition to the Executive Governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for his laudable commitment to promoting health services in the state.
The ceremony brought together political leaders, government officials, community leaders, party stakeholders and supporters to celebrate individuals recognised for their contributions in various areas of public service and political development in Kwara State.
