KWSG unveils Office for SFH, HIV/AIDS Control Programme

The Kwara State Government has officially unveiled a newly renovated six-room office space to support the activities of the State AIDS and STIs Control Programme (SASCP) and the Society for Family Health (SFH). 

This significant milestone, according to the Commissioner for Health, Dr Amina Ahmed El-Imam, who commissioned the newly renovated office, marks another step forward in the state’s commitment to achieving HIV epidemic control.

She explained that the renovation of the building was made possible through the Global Fund GC7 N-THRIP Grant, implemented by the Society for Family Health (SFH) as a sub-recipient to the HIV National Programme (HVN), in partnership with the Kwara State Ministry of Health. 

Dr El-Imam stressed further that the project aims at strengthening the coordination of the state’s HIV response and provide a more enabling environment for health workers involved in HIV/AIDS control.

The Commissioner who applauded the collaborative effort behind the project, reaffirmed the Ministry’s dedication to providing sustainable infrastructure for health programmes in the state.

She maintained that the newly renovated office would significantly improve operational efficiency in coordinating HIV interventions and appreciated support from the Global Fund, SFH, and all other partners in making this a reality.

The Team Lead, Society for Family Health, Dr. Owen omede, in his remarks, expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Commissioner for her  unwavering support. 

“We stand here today filled with excitement and appreciation. This would not have been possible without your immense commitment to achieving HIV epidemic control". 

“We are equally thankful to the Director of Public Health and the entire  State Aids/ STI Control Programme team, whose dedication continues to drive our successes," the Team Lead remarked.

Dr Owen explained that the newly renovated facility will house strategic teams working on HIV prevention, treatment, care, and support, ensuring that Kwara State remains on track toward controlling and ultimately ending the HIV epidemic.
