Kwara State Government Approves 2024/2025 Academic Calendar for Schools

The Kwara State Government has officially approved the academic calendar for the 2024/2025 school year, applicable to all primary and secondary schools—both public and private—across the state.

According to the approved schedule, the resumption dates, midterm breaks, and closing dates for each term have been outlined, ensuring a standardized academic structure. Below is the detailed academic calendar for the 2024/2025 session:

Approved Academic Calendar for 2024/2025 Academic Session

1st Term:

  • Resumption Date: Tuesday, 17th September 2024
  • Midterm Break: Thursday, 31st October – Friday, 1st November 2024
  • Closing Date: Friday, 13th December 2024
  • Duration: 13 weeks
  • Holiday: Monday, 16th December 2024 – Friday, 3rd January 2025 (3 weeks)

2nd Term:

  • Resumption Date: Monday, 6th January 2025
  • Midterm Break: Thursday, 20th February – Friday, 21st February 2025
  • Closing Date: Friday, 4th April 2025
  • Duration: 13 weeks
  • Holiday: Monday, 7th April – Friday, 25th April 2025 (3 weeks)

3rd Term:

  • Resumption Date: Monday, 28th April 2025
  • Midterm Break: Thursday, 5th June – Friday, 6th June 2025
  • Closing Date: Friday, 25th July 2025
  • Duration: 13 weeks
  • Holiday: Monday, 28th July – Friday, 12th September 2025 (7 weeks)

Approved Academic Calendar for 2025/2026 Academic Session

1st Term:

  • Resumption Date: Monday, 15th September 2025
  • Midterm Break: Thursday, 30th October – Friday, 31st October 2025
  • Closing Date: Friday, 12th December 2025
  • Duration: 13 weeks
  • Holiday: Monday, 15th December 2025 – Friday, 2nd January 2026 (3 weeks)

All schools are mandated to strictly follow this approved academic calendar. Non-compliance may result in sanctions. Additionally, boarders are expected to resume the Sunday before each resumption date. National and public holidays must be observed in accordance with the calendar.
