KWEPA GM Visits Ministry of Environment for Inter-Agency Collaboration

As part of ongoing efforts to strengthen inter-agency collaboration for improved environmental protection and better waste management, the General Manager of the Kwara State Environmental Protection Agency (KWEPA), Hon. Jide Aina, has paid a courtesy visit to the Ministry of Environment on Friday. The meeting was held at the Ministry’s conference hall in Ilorin.

The visit reaffirmed KWEPA’s commitment to supporting the Ministry’s strategic vision in key areas such as environmental preservation, climate resilience, and effective waste management across the State.

In his remarks, Hon. Jide Aina emphasized the need for a unified and collaborative approach to achieving a cleaner and healthier Kwara.“The Ministry of Environment and KWEPA must work hand-in-hand to enforce environmental standards and engage citizens in protection efforts. This visit is not just symbolic but a concrete step towards renewed collaboration,” he stated.

Hon. Aina also highlighted KWEPA’s core focus areas, including; waste management, environmental sanitation, and public enlightenment campaigns. He sought the Ministry’s continued support and guidance in implementing the Agency’s mandate effectively.

The Commissioner for Environment, Hajia Nafisat Buge, appreciated the visit and noted that consistent engagement between government agencies is vital to delivering the State’s environmental goals.

“We welcome this collaboration with KWEPA and look forward to joint initiatives that will positively impact the environment and the well-being of our people,” she said.

Hajia Buge commended the initiative and pledged the Ministry’s full support for KWEPA’s programmes and objectives.

Also speaking, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Alhaji Abubakar Ayinla, congratulated Hon. Aina on his well-deserved appointment and urged the management and staff of KWEPA to give the General Manager their utmost cooperation and support in the interest of the State.
