Ayinde Commends KWSG as He Reunites with Daughter

The Kwara State Government has been commended for the role played in reuniting Sofiat Abdulganiyu with her family, a 20-year-old female, who was declared missing on 17th June, 2025.

The Commissioner for Women Affairs, Chief (Mrs.) Oluwakemi Opeyemi Afolashade, received the commendation today in her office during Sofiat's reunion with her family, expressing gratitude to God that Sofiat was found alive in Kogi State through the efforts of the Kogi State Ministry of Women Affairs.

The Commissioner further appreciated the Governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, for giving her the opportunity to serve in a humanitarian capacity, which made it possible for Sofiat to be swiftly reunited with her family.

She noted that the effort put in by the Kwara State Ministry of Women Affairs and its staff to ensure Sofiat’s safe return was part of the humanitarian services carried out by the Ministry.

Chief Afolashade conveyed the warmest regards of the Governor to Sofiat’s father and praised the staff for the prompt response in reuniting Sofiat with her family, suggesting that Sofiat should be given adequate medical care and attention to help her recover quickly from the trauma she had experienced.

The Director of Personnel, Finance, and Supply, Alhaji Abdulrasheed Ubandawaki, congratulated the family on the return of their daughter, noting that what happened was every parent’s nightmare.

Sofiat’s father, Mr. Abdulganiyu Ayinde, expressed his gratitude to the Governor and the Ministry for facilitating the reunion and explained that Sofiat had gone to Oja-Oba to purchase some items but did not return home that day, adding that the search for her continued until last Wednesday, when the Commissioner was informed that Sofiat had been found in Kogi State.

He also commended the Chairman of Asa Local Government Area, Alhaji Sheu Amasa and the management of the Local Government, revealing that Sofiat’s identity was confirmed using her thumbprint on the National Identification Number (NIN) website.
