African Procurement Forum Awards:Kwara Recognized for Driving Local Participation

The African Procurement and Supply Chain Summit, 2025 has recently honoured the General Manager of the Kwara State Public Procurement Agency, QS Raheem AbdulBaki in Lagos for his excellence in driving local participation as the Public Procurement Reform Champion of the State, highlighting Kwara's excellent performance in efficient public procurement.

While receiving the award, the General Manager described collaboration and the creation of systems that promote local content participation as key tools for driving economic growth. He appreciated the staff of the Agency for their coordinated support, which he said, contributed immensely to the global recognition  the State has received. He described the awards as yet another prove of the visionary leadership of Governor  AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, whom he credited for placing Kwara on a path to greatness and international visibility.

He noted that "the recognition is not just an honour but a call to do more in promoting local content, strengthening systems, and institutionalizing actionable processes". According to him, "the Agency is working round the clock to build partnerships with procurement stakeholders within and outside the country to ensure that the world embraces the unique, homegrown procurement strategies developed in Kwara".

AbdulBaki while addressing staff of the Agency, urged them to continue to work on personal development and leverage opportunities provided by relevant professional bodies to deepen their expertise and drive excellence within the Agency.

He then expressed gratitude to Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for his unwavering support, which he said has enabled the Agency to make significant impacts in empowering local businesses with results already visible across the State.
