Youth Commissioner Inspects Renovation Works at NYSC Orientation Camp
Following the recent rainstorm that destroyed some buildings at the NYSC Orientation Camp in Yikpata, Edu Local Government Area, the Kwara State Government, under the proactive leadership of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq CON, in a bid to restore the camp to a functional and safe condition, has swung into action, directing the prompt release of resources and mobilization of workers to begin repair and reconstruction efforts at the Camp.
The Kwara State Commissioner for Youth Development, Amb. Ndanusa Usman Shehu, has paid a working visit to inspect the ongoing renovation works, today at the camp.
The rainstorm, which struck recently, left significant damage in its wake, tearing off roofs, and rendering several camp facilities unusable.
Speaking during the inspection, the Commissioner expressed satisfaction with the pace and quality of work, commending the Governor for his swift and decisive response to the emergency.
“We are here today on behalf of His Excellency, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, to ensure that the renovation work is proceeding as planned. What we have seen is impressive, the contractors are working round the clock to meet the timeline, and the facilities are gradually returning to standard,” the Commissioner stated.
He further reiterated the administration’s commitment to youth welfare, national service, and infrastructural development.“The NYSC scheme is a vital platform for unity and youth engagement, and this government will not fold its arms when such an important institution is affected. His Excellency acted immediately, and this swift intervention is a testament to his love for young people,” he added.
Also speaking during the visit, the site Engineer and representative of the contracting firm handling the repairs, Albert Adewole, assured the Commissioner and NYSC officials that all renovation work would be completed on or before Friday.“We understand the urgency of this project, especially with the new batch of corps members. I want to assure the Commissioner, NYSC management, and the Kwara State Government that we are working round the clock. By Friday, all major repairs will be concluded and the camp will be ready for use,” Engr. Adewole stated.
