We’re Up-to Date in Salary, Pension Payment Except for Persons With Invalid KWASRRA Status: KWSG

• Gives data, solution for outstanding payments 

• ⁠Urges media outlets to avoid misinformation, partisan ‘analysts’

Kwara State Government on Thursday said it remains committed to timely, transparent and full payment of salary and pensions to its workers, saying all persons with valid details have been paid their dues. 

Commissioner for Finance Dr. Hauwa Nuru said in a statement in Ilorin, the state capital, that the government has paid salary and pension till May 2025, saying those who have not got their salary or pension have either not enrolled in the mandatory Kwara State Residents Registration Agency (KWASRRA) database or submitted invalid details. 

Through the implementation of the State Social Identity Database (SSID) verification process, the government has enhanced the accuracy and transparency of salary and pension disbursements across the state, she said. 

In the month of May 2025, the government successfully paid salaries to 97% of state employees who have valid registrations with KWSRRA, according to the commissioner.

The remaining 3% were not paid due to invalid registrations or failure to comply with the registration process, she added.

Nuru said efforts are ongoing to encourage those affected to complete their registration to ensure prompt payment.

She added that 81.2% of state pensioners with valid KWASRRA registrations have also been verified and paid their May pensions. 

“Approximately 17% of pensioners have been on hold for over a year due to non-participation in physical verification exercises and failure to register with KWASRRA,” she added. 

“The remaining 1.8% have issues related to invalid SSID numbers or did not present themselves for verification. This group includes individuals residing abroad, those who have not registered with KWASRRA, and some who may have passed away.

“At the local government level, including the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), 95% of the submitted payroll has been paid. The remaining 5% have not received payments due to invalid SSID or National Identification Numbers (NIN), name mismatches, incorrect Personnel Staff Numbers (PSN), and non registration with KWSRRA, amongst others.” 

She urged persons who have not got their pay to update their KWASRRA record immediately.

Dr Nuru noted that 76.7% of local government pensioners with valid KWASRRA registrations have also been verified and paid their May pensions. 

The remaining 23.3% either have invalid SSID numbers or have not completed the verification or registration processes with the KWSRRA. 

“This group includes individuals residing abroad, those who have not registered with KWASRRA, and some who may have passed away,” she said. 

The commissioner said the government continues to engage in media advocacies and direct communication with unions and other stakeholders to encourage unregistered pensioners and employees to complete their SSID registrations. 

“KWASRRA has introduced a simple and secure SMS-based process for pensioners to lodge complaints and resolve payment issues without the need for physical visits,” she added. 

“Affected pensioners are advised to send their details via SMS to the dedicated number 08032059986, including their full name, verification number, pension number, account number and bank name, NIN, and KWASRRA SSID number. 

“Pensioners who have misplaced or lost their SSID can retrieve it online by visiting KWASRRA website (https://www.kwasrra.ng/register/validate) and entering their NIN.”

Dr Nuru said the administration remains steadfast in its commitment to prompt payment of salaries and pension, adding: “The SSID verification process is a crucial step towards ensuring transparency, and safeguarding public funds.”

The commissioner, meanwhile, urged media outlets to try to verify claims made by anyone regarding government’s activities so that partisan analysts do not use their platforms to spread mischief or cause public disaffection.
