KWSG Reiterates Commitment to Supporting MSMEs for Economic Growth

The Kwara State Government has restated its commitment to creating an enabling environment for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) to thrive, in line with Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s strategic vision for inclusive economic growth.
This commitment was underscored by the Commissioner for Finance, Dr. Hauwa Nuru, during the ‘Naija Brand Chick Trade Fair’ held at the Government House Banquet Hall in Ilorin.
The two-day event, supported by the State Government and sponsored by Wema Bank, aims to bolster local entrepreneurship and stimulate economic activity within the state.
Dr. Nuru emphasized that the trade fair serves as a platform to connect entrepreneurs with potential customers, thereby enhancing market access, a critical factor for business expansion and sustainability.
She highlighted the role of the Kwara State Ease of Doing Business Council in implementing reforms to eliminate barriers to business operations, such as streamlining land administration processes and improving access to finance.
Under Governor AbdulRazaq’s leadership, the state has witnessed significant infrastructural developments, including the establishment of the Ilorin Innovation Hub, the Kwara State Sugar Film Factory, the Kwara State Garment Factory, and improvements in transportation networks, which collectively create a more favourable business climate. These initiatives have not only attracted investments but have also empowered local businesses to scale their operations.
The Commissioner called on all stakeholders to support the administration's efforts in building a prosperous Kwara by actively participating in economic activities and leveraging opportunities provided by the government to showcase the state’s potential to the global market.
Participants at the trade fair expressed appreciation for the government’s support. Exhibitor Nifemi Olaonipekun lauded the initiative, stating that it provided a valuable opportunity to increase sales and expand client networks.
Shopper Hajia Sherifat Umar commended the availability of affordable and quality local products, reflecting the fair’s success in promoting indigenous businesses.
The Kwara State Government remains steadfast in its mission to support MSMEs, recognizing their pivotal role in driving economic development and job creation across the state.
