Kwara Youth Commissioner Joins Nigerian Air Force in 10km Route March

In a show of solidarity and collaboration between the Kwara State Government and the Nigerian Armed Forces, the Commissioner for Youth Development, Ambassador Ndanusa Usman Shehu, joined personnel of the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) in a 10-kilometre route march on Saturday morning in Ilorin.
Organised by the NAF, the fitness exercise was designed to promote physical endurance, combat readiness, discipline, and team spirit among officers.
Ambassador Ndanusa’s participation underscored Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s commitment to fostering youth engagement and strengthening civil-military relations in the state.
Speaking after the exercise, the Commissioner commended the Air Force for its professionalism and dedication to national service. He described his participation as symbolic of the state government's strategy to inspire young people through meaningful engagement in nation-building initiatives.
“This event goes beyond physical fitness. It sends a powerful message to our youth about the values of discipline, resilience, and patriotism,” he said.
He added that the Kwara State Ministry of Youth Development remains committed to working with security agencies to empower youths and involve them in development and security-focused programmes.
On his part, Commander of the 341 Communication Information Systems Group, Wing Commander Uchenna Joseph Obieke, emphasized the Air Force's dedication to building stronger relationships with local communities and the youth.
“Fitness and discipline aren’t the preserve of the military alone. These are values every citizen should adopt. Through physical and mental resilience, we prepare not just for defence but for collective nation-building,” he stated.
He further stressed that Nigerian youth are vital to the nation’s future and should be engaged through positive platforms like the route march to inspire national unity and peaceful coexistence.
Participants in the route march included officers from the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Man ‘O’ War Special Squad, National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), the National Association of Uniformed Voluntary Organisations, and members of the press.
