Kwara L-PRES Holds Steering Committee Meeting, Urges Synergy on Developmental Projects.

The State Steering Committee (SSC)  for the Kwara State Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support Project (L-PRES) has held its biannual meeting at the L-PRES State Coordination Office in Ilorin with a call to all world bank assisted projects coordinators in the State to work in synergy for smooth and effective implementation.

The meeting is part of their statutory oversight functions to the L-PRES project at the State level. While speaking at the meeting, the SSC members noted that there are areas of similarity among the developmental projects, and stressed the need to work together with a view to achieving the present administration's vision for a resilient and sustainable Agro-Climatic and Livestock sector in the State.

They specifically urged both L-PRES and ACReSAL Project coordinators to ensure that their activities align with the needs of the communities where the projects are sited.
The SSC Chairperson, Mrs. Oloruntoyosi Thomas who is also the Commissioner for Livestock Development had earlier said that the committee would continue to provide strategic support, policy guidance, and direction to make the project a model to other participating states in the country.

In his response, the State Project Coordinator, Mr. Olusoji Oyawoye commended the support of the State Steering Committee members for the achievements of the L-PRES Project in the State.

Also speaking at the meeting were; the State Commissioner for Finance, Hon. Hauwa Nuru; Commissioner for Environment, Hon. Nafisat Buge; Commissioner for Business, Innovation and Technology, Hon. Damilola Yusuf-Adelodun; others were; Special Assistant on Security to the Governor, Mr. Aliyu Muideen; Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Livestock Development, Alhaji Mohammed Yahaya; Director of Livestock Services, Mallam Umar Ahmed Mohammed, Project Coordinator for ACReSAL, Alhaji Shamsideen Aregbe and the L-PRES Project Coordinator, Mr. Olusoji Oyawoye.

You may recall that the Project Development Objective(PDO) of L-PRES is to improve livestock productivity, resilience and commercialization of selected value chains and to strengthen the country’s capacity to respond to crisis in the sector, while ACReSAL is to increase the implementation of sustainable landscape management practices in targeted watersheds in northern Nigeria and strengthen Nigeria’s long-term enabling environment for integrated climate-resilient landscape management.
