Kwara Fiscal Responsibility Commission Inspects Projects in Ilorin East LG Council
The Kwara State Fiscal Responsibility Commission (KWFRC) has visited the Ilorin East Local Government Secretariat to inspect newly completed and ongoing projects in the Council.
The Chairman of the Fiscal Responsibility Commission, Barr. Abubakar Othman, during the recent visit, explained that the primary objective of the KWFRC is to ensure prudence, transparency, and accountability (PTA) in the State. He emphasised that the Commission is statutorily responsible for monitoring the utilisation of government funds.
He commended the efforts of the Chairman of Ilorin East Local Government, Hon. Garba Lukman Agbelere, for implementing people-oriented projects and encouraged the Council to continue providing dividends of democracy to the people.
While receiving the inspection team, Hon. Agbelere disclosed that his administration has executed laudable projects that directly impact citizens' lives. Some of the projects include:
- Construction of the NSCDC office at Oke Oyi
- Renovation of classrooms at Panada Oja Agbeyangi/Gbadamu Oja
- Electrification of Share Junction to Apado
- Drilling of a motorised, solar-powered borehole at Iponrin
- Renovation of a block of two classrooms with an office at Marafa/Aiyetoro
- Drilling of a solar-powered borehole at Famole, Apado Ward
He also mentioned provisions for:
- Construction of a corpers’ pavilion
- Installation of solar street lights and a solar-powered borehole for Secretariat staff
- Construction of a 300-metre fence around the legislative chamber to prevent unauthorised access to the Secretariat
The inspection is part of the Commission's ongoing efforts to ensure public funds are used judiciously for the overall benefit of the people of Kwara State.
