Kwara Govt Pledges Stronger Backing for Youth in Agriculture

The Kwara State Commissioner for Youth Development, Amb. Shehu Ndanusa Usman, has restated the government’s support for youth-driven agricultural initiatives aimed at fostering youth development.
He made this known while delivering a keynote address at the Annual Agriculture Summit organised by the Kwara South Consultative Youth Forum, held at Igbomina House Hall. The summit was themed “Empowering Youth Through Agriculture.”
Commending the youth of Kwara South for their focus and initiative, Amb. Ndanusa encouraged them to continue leading efforts to secure their future through farming and agribusiness.
He noted that agriculture offers practical opportunities for job creation, even with limited start-up capital.
“With minimal resources, any determined young person can succeed in agriculture,” he said. “This government is not just cheering you on from a distance — we are in this with you.”
The Commissioner also acknowledged the role of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq in creating an environment that encourages youth participation, saying the Governor’s inclusive approach has helped initiatives like this summit thrive.
The Deputy Chief of Staff, Princess Bukola Babalola, who represented the Chief of Staff, delivered a goodwill message, urging young people to stay committed and represent their communities with pride.
“You are not just observers — you’re part of the plan,” she said. “Agriculture isn’t only about farming; it’s about building a future that works for you.”
Speaking on behalf of the Forum, its President, Comrade Gabriel Omoniyi, thanked the state government for listening to the concerns of young people and providing platforms for growth.
He added that the summit would help inspire a new generation of young farmers who are self-reliant and job creators in their communities.
The event drew a wide range of participants, including the Commissioner for Livestock Development, Hon. Oloruntoyosi Thomas; Prince Goke Folayan of Ekan Kingdom; agricultural experts; stakeholders; and community leaders.
