KW-HMB Commends Drug Suppliers for Contributions to the EDP

The Kwara State Hospital Management Board (KW-HMB) has commended the efforts of drug suppliers in ensuring that medications are consistently available in all healthcare facilities across the State, through the Essential Drug Project (EDP).

During a meeting with representatives of the pharmaceutical companies on Wednesday, the Executive Secretary of the Board, Dr. Abdulraheem Malik, expressed appreciation for their contributions and announced that the EDP is less of a bureaucratic bottleneck, allowing for timely payments to suppliers and assured that all supplied products would be paid for without delay.

Dr. Malik also urged suppliers to consider offering price concessions for their products to facilitate quicker distribution.

In her remarks, the Project Manager of the  EDP, Pharm. Lovett Oladele thanked representatives from each pharmaceutical company for their significant role in the State's healthcare sector and expressed hope for further collaborations.

Pharm. Isaac Salami, representing Sam Pharmaceutical Company, praised the management of the Hospital Management Board and the Essential Drug Project (EDP) for their commendable progress, noting that the current situation is an improvement from where they had started.

In his closing remarks, the Director of Medical Services and Training of the Board, Dr. Femi Joseph, thanked the suppliers for attending the meeting and emphasized that the ultimate consumers of the drugs are doctors and nurses, who will administer them to patients. He, then encouraged the suppliers to work closely with healthcare professionals.

The event concluded with the presentation of an award of excellence to two distinguished companies—Fidson Health Care and Madison Healthcare—for their outstanding corporate social responsibility (CSR) and contributions to the Essential Drug Project (EDP).
