Ilorin Durbar Committee Visits Kwara Garment Factory Ahead of Festivities

As preparations intensify for the 2025 Ilorin Emirate Durbar Festival, members of the Ilorin Durbar Committee paid a working visit to the Kwara Garment Factory today. The visit aimed to explore areas of collaboration and assess the factory’s capacity to support the festival with locally made ceremonial garments.

The delegation, led by Engr. Suleiman Yahya Alapansanpa, Chairman of the Ilorin Emirate Durbar Committee and Danmasani of Ilorin. They were warmly received by the Managing Director of the factory, Hajia Bukola Adedeji, and her management team.

In her welcome remarks, Hajia Adedeji expressed appreciation for the visit and reaffirmed the factory’s commitment to preserving and promoting cultural heritage through quality garment production. She presented a selection of festival-themed pieces, including customised horse saddles, polo shirts, branded caps, souvenir bags, and other ceremonial attire, showcasing the factory’s growing innovation and production capacity.

The delegation was taken on a tour of the production lines, interacted with staff, and reviewed the factory’s preparedness to meet festival-related demands.

Engr. Alapansanpa, speaking during the visit, commended the factory’s creative output and the quality of garments displayed. He encouraged the factory to participate in the upcoming Durbar exhibition, scheduled for two days before Eid, describing it as a prime platform to showcase locally produced items to visitors from within and outside Nigeria.

He also lauded the Kwara State Government for investing in the garment factory, describing it as a visionary project that continues to drive economic development and create employment opportunities across the state.

The visit reflects the deepening synergy between traditional institutions and industrial development in Kwara State as stakeholders prepare for what promises to be a colourful and culturally rich Durbar celebration.

Environmental Sanitation Holds Saturday

The Kwara State monthly environmental sanitation exercise  for the month of May, will hold on Saturday, 31st 2025 between the hours of seven o'clock and ten o'clock (7:00am to 10:00am) in the morning.  This was contained in a press statement issued today from the office of the state Commissioner for Environment, Hajia Nafisat Musa Buge. As usual, the statement enjoined residents to participate fully in the sanitation exercise, by clearing and cleaning both their residential and business environments.  According to the press statement signed by the Press Secretary of the Ministry  Mrs Shakirat Muritala; "there will be no vehicular and human movement across the state, during the period of the exercise."
