Commissioner Welcomes New Perm Sec, Calls for Team Work

The Kwara State Commissioner for Works, Engr. Abdulquawiy Olododo, has welcomed the newly appointed Permanent Secretary, Mr Anthony Gana Abu to the ministry, urging the staff to engage in team work by giving him maximum cooperation,  as he officially resumed duty in the ministry.

Engr. Olododo made the call during the week at the welcome ceremony of the new Permanent Secretary, held at the Ministry’s conference room.

The Commissioner described Mr. Abu’s appointment as a step in the right direction, adding that his wealth of experience and administrative insight would further strengthen the Ministry operations.

“I am delighted to welcome the Permanent Secretary, Mr. Antony Gana Abu to the Ministry. “His appointment is timely, and I have no doubt that he will work to advance Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s vision, especially in the delivery of quality infrastructure across the State.”

The Commissioner urged staff at all levels to embrace unity, professionalism and teamwork in supporting the Permanent Secretary, emphasizing that a collective effort is needed to meet the targeted goals, of this administration.

In his response, the new Permanent Secretary, Mr. Abu expressed gratitude to the management of the ministry, for the warm reception, commending the Commissioner for his dedication to repositioning the Ministry. 

He emphasized the importance of team work, noting that progress can only be achieved through shared responsibilities and mutual respect.

“If I fail, we all fail; and if I succeed, it is because we succeeded together.
This is not just about me—it is about all of us working as one team to move the Ministry forward.”

He also applauded Governor AbdulRazaq’s leadership style and reaffirmed his commitments to supporting the Ministry’s mission and aligning with the administration’s development agenda.

Those at the event were; the Director of Personnel Finance and Supply, Mr. Muyiwa Taiwo, Director Civil Engineering, Engr. Mashood Akanbi, Controller of Finance Account, Alhaji AbdulHakeem Idris and other management staff of the Ministry.

The Kwara State Civil Service Commission will conduct oral interviews for shortlisted medical and healthcare candidates on Wednesday, 21 May 2025 , and Thursday, 22 May 2025 , beginning at 8:00 a.m. each day at the Commission’s headquarters on Ahman Patigi Road, GRA, Ilorin.
