Senior Course 47 of Armed Forces Command Visits Kwara Garment Factory

The Kwara Garment Factory in Ilorin on Monday welcomed participants of Senior Course 47 from the Armed Forces Command and Staff College (AFCSC), Jaji, Kaduna State, as part of their strategic study tour of Kwara State.

The delegation, comprising senior military officers from various branches of the Nigerian Armed Forces and allied nations, was led by Colonel Usman Hashim Muhammed. The tour forms part of a wider initiative aimed at promoting civil-military relations, grassroots engagement, and insight into internal security enhancement strategies.

On arrival, the officers were received by Hajia Bukola Adedeji, Managing Director of the Kwara Garment Factory, who guided them through the facility’s expansive operations. She expressed her delight in hosting representatives of Nigeria’s premier military training institution, emphasizing the factory’s role in job creation, youth empowerment, and economic diversification in the state.

The tour offered participants an in-depth look at the entire garment production process—from fabric cutting to finishing—and showcased the factory’s modern equipment and skilled workforce. The visit provided practical insights into how industrial development at the grassroots level can significantly support national development and security architecture.

Alhaji Ganiyu Shuaib, Permanent Secretary, General Services, Office of the Secretary to the State Government, was also present and underscored the significance of the visit as part of a broader tour of key institutions across Kwara State. He noted that such engagements strengthen understanding of governance mechanisms and local development strategies.

Speaking during the tour, Colonel Muhammed praised both the Kwara State Government and the garment factory’s management for their warm reception and transparency. He explained that the study tour, themed “Harnessing Grassroots Intelligence for Enhancing Internal Security,” was designed to examine how economic empowerment initiatives can contribute to national security and foster sustainable peace.

The interactive session between the officers and factory staff emphasized the link between community-based enterprises and the promotion of internal peace and security. The factory was lauded for its impact in poverty reduction, skills acquisition, and supporting socio-economic stability.

As a token of appreciation, branded souvenirs—including T-shirts and caps—were presented to the visiting officers, marking the occasion.

This visit not only strengthened the relationship between military institutions and civil enterprises but also reinforced the vital connection between economic empowerment, internal security, and nation-building.
