The Kwara State Government will unveil the best performing Local Government Council in the State after evaluating the impacts of their projects on their various constituents.
The Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs and Community Development, Hon. Abubakar Abdullahi Bata stated this during the inspection of capital projects, executed by the Ilorin West Local Government Council under the leadership of Mallam AbdulRahman Shehu Ladan since his assumption of duty barely five months ago.
The Commissioner disclosed that within five months of their inauguration, he had visited ten Local Government Councils recently to inspect their projects and conduct on the spot assessment of impacts of such projects on the benefitting communities.
Hon. Bata further stated that the initiative to award the best performing Local Government became imperative to encourage them to deliver more dividends of democracy to their people.
He described the Executive Chairman of the Ilorin West LGA as a replica of the Executive Governor of Kwara State, Mallam AbdulRahman Abdulrazaq, whose policies and programmes are centred on community driven participation, attested to by the large turn out of people who couldn't hide their appreciations on the choice of the projects in their domains.
The Commissioner attributed the success recorded at all the Councils to the leadership style of the Executive Governor of non interference in the affairs of the Councils.
He then congratulated the Executive Chairman on his exceptional performance and appreciated the collaboration of the Legislative Arm at the Council, which had assisted in executing the developmental projects ranging from provision of water and transformers, including the construction and rehabilitation of schools, among others.
Earlier in his remarks, the Executive Chairman attributed his giant strides to the State Governor for ensuring that Councils are not influenced by any of its organs. He disclosed that all the achievements were geared towards complementing the giant strides of the Governor.
He explained that all the projects were borne out of their campaign promises to their constituents, adding that he was aware they still have a long way to go due to the enormous requests before him.
He, however, appealed for patience as he would attend to other pending intervention as funds are available.
The projects commissioned were the construction of a block of two classrooms and office, including the supply of furniture at the Oloje and Jooro Primary Schools, provision of 300 KVA transformers at Odota, Warra Osin and Koro Sayodun at the Alanamu Ward.
