KWSG RESTATES COMMITMENT TO FOOD AND NUTRITION PROGRAMMES
The Kwara State Government has restated its commitment to Food and Nutrition programmes in order to reduce malnutrition among children in the state.
The Commissioner for Planning and Economic Development, Dr. (Mrs.) Mary Ronke Arinde, stated this on Tuesday while meeting with members of the State Committee on Food and Nutrition (SCFN), in her office.
Dr. Arinde emphasised on the importance of Food and Nutrition in the lives of the children in the state, saying it will reduce the risk of infections and diseases that may arise.
The Commissioner noted that the Governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq CON is working diligently and committed to ensuring that quality nutrition is administered to the children in the state through various nutritional activities.
Dr. Arinde implored all parents and caregivers to always follow the guidelines stated by the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) to safeguard food intake to malnourished children.
Responding, the Secretary of the SCFN, Dr. Oluwagbenga Bankole, appreciated the remarkable efforts of the Commissioner in the Ministry, explaining the mandate of the SCFN as that which articulates the state activities for nutrition in order to ensure proper and effective coordination in the state.
Dr Bankole noted that the SCFN is a replica of the National Committee on Food and Nutrition at the Federal Level, which is also well coordinated at the sixteen Local Government Areas of Kwara State.
