KWSG Bolsters Youth Development with Subventions, Grants, and National Service Support



The Kwara State Government has again re-affirmed its continuous commitment to the development and empowerment of youths in the State.

This submission was made by the Commissioner for Youths Development, Amb. Ndanusa Usman Shehu, during the First Quarter 2025 Inter-ministerial Press Briefing, held at the Conference room of the Ministry of Finance, today in Ilorin.

The Commissioner who emphasized the Ministry's dedication to nurturing the potentials of Kwara's youths, stated the various support schemes and empowerment opportunities the government has embarked on to better the lives of youths in the State.

While appreciating the State Governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq CON, for his significant move to bolster youths development and community engagement, through the disbursement  of subvention to various uniformed voluntary youths organizations (VYOs) across the State. 

The Commissioner noted that the Government recognizes the role of uniformed voluntary youths organizations like the Boys’ Brigade, Scout Association, Red Cross,  Man ‘O War, Sheriff Guards, among others, as partners in moral and civic education, hence the timely payment of yearly subvention.

"Our young people are the backbone of our future, and it is vital that we continue to invest in their potentials", the Commissioner submitted.

Amb. Ndanusa also acknowledged the unwavering commitment of the Kwara State Government to the welfare of National the Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members, noting that the State government has consistently paid the meal subsidy allocated to corps members, reaffirming its dedication to supporting youths development and national service.

The Commissioner also reiterated the continuous dedication of the Ministry and State government to the youths through the disbursement of financial grants to registered community based youths development associations across the 16 local government.
