Kampe National Park: Govt Assures Community of Massive Development

The Kwara State Government has assured Patigi community of massive development  through the KAMPE National Park established in the area, on completion.

The State Commissioner for Environment, Hajia Nafisat Musa Buge gave this assurance during the community engagement of members of the composite communities of former Kampe Forest Reserve, held at Etsu Patigi's palace, Patigi, in Patigi Local Government Area of the state. 

The Commissioner who doubles as the Chairman of Kampe National Park Steering Committee in company of other committee members, 

disclosed that the meeting was aimed at familiarising themselves with the affected communities and also inform them  that the former Kampe Forest Reserve has now been upgraded to a National Park, their roles and government expectations, as well as seek for their cooperation to ensure seamless operation of the Park, in the state.

In his address, the Conservator General of the National Park Services, Dr Ibrahim Goni, congratulated the state Governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, the people of Kwara State, most especially the Etsu Patigi, Dr (Alhaji) Ibrahim Umar Bologi II and the entire Patigi community and environs, for citing the park in the their domain and the successful hand-over of Kampe Forest Reserve to the Federal Government, being among the ten (10) approved National Parks, in line with the Presidential declaration of November 2021for subsequent approval by the National Assembly. 

The Conservator General who was represented by the Assistant Conservator General (ACG), Mr. Conelius Ojo Oladipo however elaborated on benefits acrued with the location of a Federal institution in any part of the country, including job creation, overall infrastructural development, access to social facilities and give a boost to the State economy through tourist attraction and related activities.

Welcoming the Committee to his palace, the Etsu Patigi, Dr. (Alhaji) Ibrahim Umar Bologi II thanked and commended Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for counting his community worthy of the honour, noting that the meeting was first of its kind on the Kampe National Park, after the inauguration.

He affirmed that Governor AbdulRazaq led administration's support and commitment to the establishment of Kampe National Park adding that Patigi Local Government authority has also kept  to their promise of providing a decent office accommodation for the staff, at 90% completion. 

In his remarks, the Patigi Local Government Chairman, Hon. Ahmed Adam Rufai II,    was appreciative of all the affected communities for actively participating in the meeting, assuring them that the Park will enhance the desired development of both the Kampe and entire Patigi local government area as a whole.

Highlight of the meeting was the site tour of the ongoing office accommodation, renovated by Patigi Local Government.

In the entourage of the Commissioner and Committee Chairman; Kampe National Park (Steering), were Committee members. They are; representatives of Commissioners for Communications and Works; Hon. Bola Olukoju and Engr. Abdulquowiyy Olododo,  Executive Chairman, Kwara State Geographic Information Services (KW-GIS), Mallam Abdulkareem Sulyman and Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mallam Rafiu Ajakaiye.

Also present at the meeting were the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Environmental Protection, Hon. Muhammad Muazu, Permanent Secretary Ministry of Environment, Dr Abubakar Ayinla, Director Personnel, Finance and Supply, Mr Taiwo Okanlawon.

 Others are; Director Forestry, Mr Mahmud Babatunde Idris, members of Forestry Directorate of the Environment Ministry and team members of the representative of Conservator General, National Park Services from Abuja.
