Abolore Holds Maiden Meeting with Ministry Staff to Drive Agricultural Excellence
In a historic move to strengthen collaboration and drive growth within the Ministry, Dr. Afees Abolore Alabi, the Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development, held a maiden meeting with all staff of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development. The gathering, held earlier today at the Ministry’s premises, provided a platform for staff members to engage directly with the new Commissioner, marking the first of its kind in years.
All departments under the Ministry, including the Department of Agricultural Services, Department of Engineering Services, Department of Fishery Services, Department of Planning, and the Kwara State Agricultural Development Project (Kwara ADP), were duly represented at the meeting.
The event underscored the Commissioner’s commitment to fostering teamwork and collaboration in achieving the Ministry’s mandate as envisioned by His Excellency, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, Governor of Kwara State.
Addressing the staff, Dr. Alabi emphasized that success is a collective effort, requiring the active input and commitment of all personnel. He reaffirmed his open-door policy, encouraging staff members to contribute ideas, observations, and innovations that would propel the Ministry to greater heights.
“The agricultural sector plays a pivotal role in the economic growth of our state, and as a Ministry, we must be at the forefront of innovation and service excellence. I urge every staff member to take ownership of our collective mandate, strive for continuous improvement, and work as a team to drive sustainable agricultural development in Kwara State,” Dr. Alabi stated.
In her remark, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mrs. Funke Sokoya, commended Dr. Alabi for prioritizing the welfare of staff and fostering an environment of inclusivity and engagement. She lauded his distinctive approach to leadership and pledged the unwavering support of all staff in driving the Ministry to its desired objectives. She further urged all employees to demonstrate diligence, punctuality, and dedication to their respective duties.
Speaking on behalf of the staff, the Director of Women in Agriculture, Kwara ADP, Mrs. Elemosho Rafat, expressed gratitude to the Commissioner for creating this avenue of engagement. She assured him of the staff’s dedication to improved service delivery, pledging that the positive impact of the meeting would be evident in the coming days.
In closing, the Director of Personnel and Finance Services, Mr. Mayaki Madu, congratulated all staff for the opportunity to engage with the Commissioner and urged them to take to heart the discussions from the meeting. He encouraged them to align with the new administration’s vision and give their best in service. Mr. Madu also extended appreciation to the Executive Governor of Kwara State, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, for appointing Dr. Alabi, describing his deployment as a fitting decision for the advancement of the sector.
