KWASRRA tasks residents as govt ties exam registrations, scholarship, safety protection to SSID number

The Kwara State Government has directed all residents to register with the Kwara State Residents Registration Agency (KWASRRA), emphasizing that accurate data is crucial for ensuring security, planning economic development, and improving public service delivery.

In a statement issued over the weekend, KWASRRA announced that it has been mandated by Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq to register every resident in the state and issue them a unique State Security Identification (SSID) number/card.

“We are carrying out this directive across 96 registration centers in the state, with plans to expand as the process progresses,” said the Acting General Manager of KWSRRA, Tajudeen Jimoh.

He further explained that the agency is working closely with key government bodies, including the Ministries of Education and Human Capital Development, Tertiary Education, Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs, and Community Development, and the Kwara State Social Investment Programme (KWASSIP), to mobilize citizens for the registration exercise.

“As part of this initiative, parents, guardians, and students will be required to provide their SSID numbers when registering for exams, scholarships, grants, or social welfare benefits. Moving forward, students admitted into state-owned tertiary institutions must also register as residents of Kwara State. Access to government services will similarly require an SSID number. For instance, children registering for common entrance, JSS exams, SSCE, and other assessments will need to provide their SSID numbers alongside those of their parents or guardians,” Jimoh stated.

The government recently completed the registration of all civil servants and pensioners, marking a significant step toward building a comprehensive and credible database of Kwara State residents.

The government reiterated that this initiative is vital for crime prevention, economic planning, and efficient governance, urging residents to support the process for the collective well-being of the state.

Kwara State Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM) said applicants for the public school teaching jobs can now check the results of the CBT done earlier on Saturday.  TESCOM Chairman Mallam Bello Taoheed said all the applicants who sat the test can access their results on the portal. "This is the first step after the exams. The Commission will soon release the cutoffs that would determine the candidates who proceed to the interview stage, among other things," he said.
