KWSG COMMENDED ON IMPROVED TRANSPORTATION, EASE OF DOING BUSINESS FOR TRANSPORTERS
The Kwara State Government has been commended for the improved transportation system put in place to allow ease of doing business for transporters operating in the State.
The Commissioner for Transportation, Hon. Lafia Aliyu Kora Sabi, received the commendation while hosting the Kwara State Tricycle Association of Nigeria (TOAN), and the Motorcycle Operators Union of Nigeria (MOUN) on a courtesy visit to his office on Thursday.
Hon. Lafia Aliyu Kora Sabi, who thanked the two groups for their visit, said the Ministry of transportation under his watch will record better turnaround, ensuring that all the yearnings of the transporters are adequately addressed by the Ministry.
The Commissioner equally rallied for cooperation and maximum understanding from the State Transporters Association, both the TOAN and MOUN, to maintain peace and social decorum as they go about their daily activities, adding that the administration of Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq prioritizes peace and progress for citizens.
"I am happy that you dimmed it fit to accord me honour with your visit and I really appreciate it. This administration, since the on set, has been coming up with many transformational and innovative changes across all sectors and strata of life in the State and that is why this Ministry was created to enable the State further improve on roads and transportation system in the best interest of citizens", Lafia disclosed.
On his part, the Senior Special Assistant to the Kwara State Governor on Transportation, Hon. Ibrahim Orire, congratulated the Commissioner on his appointment and expressed confidence in his ability to perform, adding that the administration through the former Ministry of Works and Transport had maintained cordial relationships with transporters in the State.
In her vote of thanks, the Director, Personnel, Finance and Supply of the Ministry, Hajia Medinat Ajao, appreciated the associations for their visit, urging them to always adhere to the transportation regulations of the State while complementing the huge investment on roads by ensuring their durability.
Earlier, the Chairman, of the Kwara State Tricycle Association of Nigeria (TOAN), Alhaji Saliu Gidado, said their visit was to showcase solidarity and pledge their support for the present administration in its unwavering strides at revamping roads in the State, which has directly benefitted transporters and reduced the persistent chaos and cost of maintenance on their tricycles due to bad roads in the past.
Similarly, the Chairman Motorcycle Operators Union of Nigeria (MOUN), Comrade, Musa Bolarinwa Jimoh, described the administration of Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq as the government of the masses, making life conducive for residents, especially the motorists, adding that, on several occasions, the transporters have enjoyed interventions, both in cash and kind from the State Government.
The two Chairmen, however, called on the government for more support and relief interventions while pledging their continued loyalty for the State Governor.
Also at the meeting were, the Director, Transportation, Engr. Joshua Durotoye; Director, Mechanical Services, Engr Isiaq Ibrahim; Director, Rail, Road and Water Ways, Engr. Solomon Oyinloye; other management and staffers of the Ministry as well as members of TOAN and MOUN.
