Kwara ACReSAL TRAINS COMMUNITIES CRFMC, CBAs, CBOTs,CIG EXCOs ON CRF IMPLEMENTATION PROJECT.

In its bid to expedite the implementation of the project development objective of the Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes (ACReSAL) project in the 10 selected communities for the Community Revolving Fund (CRF) implementation in the State, the KWACReSAL has embarked on a training exercise for Community Revolving Fund Management Committees (CRFMC), Community Business Agents (CBAs), Community Board of Trustees( CBOTs) and Community Interest Groups Executives.

Speaking during the training session, the Project Engineer, Engr. Abubakar Hussain who represented the State Project Coordinator, Alhaji Shamsideen Olatunbosun Aregbe, emphasized that the CRF scheme is an investment fund under the ACReSAL Project, that provides loans to improve agricultural practices in communities and farmer groups, targeting crop production and supporting the agriculture value chain.

He stressed that since the fund was a loan, not a grant, beneficiaries in each community must ensure that the objectives of the CRF initiatives, which are to bring about sustainability and scaling up are achieved through their supervision.

Engr. Hussain in some of his paper presentations, explained some of the responsibilities of the CRFMC which include: the mobilization of community members, submission and defending of Watershed Community Business plans (WCPs) to Local Government Project Management Committee (LGPMC), maintaining and operating financial records and CRF project account, among others. 

Also trained were the CBAs, who are to participate in the collection of Biodata on CRF cluster villages, support savings groups/ Agro Business in adherence to the core principles; weekly meetings, weekly savings, interloaning, repayment, and good record keeping. Also, emphasized during the training were the roles of  BOTs in the management of grievances where necessary, forming part of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) agreement between the State Project Management Unit (SPMU) and the CRFMC, among others.

Speaking during the programme, the Desk Officer for the CRF, who is also the Natural Resource Officer of Kwara ACReSAL, Mr Salihu Husseini explained that the CRF was an initiative to assist farmers to enhance the communities' livelihood as expected that the soft loans should revolve within the communities through different registered cooperative societies, which must adhere to the financial guidelines for sustainability.

He emphasized the need to review the business plan for the cooperative societies as the only way to ensure that the loan is invested wisely.

The paper presentations included - ACReSAL Roles and Responsibilities of CRFMC, CBAs and BOTs; Financial Management, CRF Procurement Procedures, GRM, CRF Overview, and Appraisal Forms, among others.

Participants were the CRFMC, CBAs, CIG Excos, and BOTs of the ten communities; Lata-Woro, Kokodo, Wodata, Lata-Nna, Takalafia, Afon, Gbago, Ogbondoroko, Adewole and Egbejila visited for the training.

Participants appreciated the efforts and commended the Kwara State Government, World Bank, and the ACReSAL Project for their foresight in initiating the CRF project, which will go a long way in improving the livelihood of the benefiting communities.

Kwara State Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM) said applicants for the public school teaching jobs can now check the results of the CBT done earlier on Saturday.  TESCOM Chairman Mallam Bello Taoheed said all the applicants who sat the test can access their results on the portal.
