Good road network and effective transportation systems have been highlighted as key economic indicators for growth, which could propel Kwara State to further advance as the business hub of Nigeria, considering the huge investment in the two sectors by the State government.

The Kwara State Commissioner for Transportation, Hon. Lafia Aliyu Kora Sabi, gave the hint, during his maiden meeting with the management and staffers of the newly created Ministry of Transportation, earlier, today as he assumed duty.

Hon. Lafia Kora Sabi, who appreciated the privileges offered him to serve the present administration in many capacities, and now the pioneer Commissioner for the Ministry of Transportation, lauded His Excellency's visionary leadership and the unwavering zeal he has been put forward in transforming and rewriting the old narrative of Kwara State in the time past to a more adoring one for citizens.

Hon. Lafia stressed further that, the creation of the new Ministry was out of the undaunted passion of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq to promote good and workable transportation, which according to him would allow accessibility and ease movement of agricultural produce from the rural to urban areas of the State, while opening up the State for business and multilateral economic relationship with communities, local government and other border countries.

"Transportation and the economy are like identical twins, as humans, movement is our biological traits. It is through an accessible and well coordinated road that  the state can harness economic potential, food security, and socio-cultural transactions which underscores the crucial reason for prioritizing our transportation system in the State", Hon. Lafia emphasized.

"We can all testify to many of the capital projects already accomplished by the State government, like the innovation hub, garment factory, sugar film factory, the ongoing international conference centre, state judges house, Kwara internally generated revenue house,  Ilorin Smart City projects and renewed urbanization of roads and flyovers, all intended for the economic prosperity of the State", he added.

The Transportation Commissioner, also, said that the government has approved for more road construction, stating that the Bode-Sadu/ Olooru to Barutten, spreading to the border areas in the Kwara North Districts would soon take off.

He, however, called on the management and staffers of the Ministry to be proactive, committed to their duties and join hands with him to ensure the purpose, goals and expectations of the State Government for the creation of the Ministry are fully accomplished.

The Director, Personnel, Finance and Supply of the Ministry, Hajia Medinat Ajao, in her welcome address, congratulated the Commissioner on his appointment and assured him of the full cooperation from the staff.

Earlier in his welcome address, the Director, Transportation, Engr. Joshua welcomed the Commissioner to the Ministry, noting that his impacted values were noticeable in other Ministries where he had once served.He assured the Commissioner of their unalloyed confidence in him and maximum cooperation to work according to the government's vision to achieve the desired results.

Also in attendance were, Director, Building and  Mechanical Services, Engr. Olayinka Busari; Director Road, Rail and Water Ways, Engr. Solomon Oyinloye and other staffers of the Ministry.

Kwara TESCOM releases CBT results, to announce cutoffs ahead of interview, screenings

Kwara State Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM) said applicants for the public school teaching jobs can now check the results of the CBT done earlier on Saturday.  TESCOM Chairman Mallam Bello Taoheed said all the applicants who sat the test can access their results on the portal. "This is the first step after the exams. The Commission will soon release the cutoffs that would determine the candidates who proceed to the interview stage, among other things," he said. "At the end of the CBT, a total of 8,529 sat and completed the exam across the centres. The breakdowns are as follows: COED Ilorin, 2,891; Ilorin West LGA, 1,991; UNILORIN, 1,677; Lafiagi, 812; Offa, 586; Oko, 297; Patigi, 275. A total of 9,459 applicants had been invited for the CBT across the seven centres. The remaining applicants did not show up for the exercise. Interested and qualified individuals can apply through: https://tescom.kwarastate.gov.ng .
