EDUCATION: CSN COMMENDS GOVERNOR ABDULRAZAQ ON REVAMPING THE SECTOR

The Chemical Society of Nigeria, Kwara State Chapter has commended the Governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, for his laudable achievements in the education sector.

The President of the Society, Kwara State Chapter, Professor Steven Oguntoye, gave the commendation on Tuesday during a courtesy visit to the Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development, Ilorin, to intimate the Ministry about the Society’s plan to create awareness campaigns for students and bring synergy between the government, industry and academics.

The President explained that the Society wishes to organise training and retraining programmes for Chemistry Teachers across the State in partnership with the State government and to ensure that Chemistry, as a subject offered in Senior Secondary Schools, is more interesting to the students.

Professor Oguntoye pleaded with the Commissioner to assist in facilitating a round table discussion with the Management of the Ministry, the State Executive of All Nigerian Confederation of Principals of Secondary Schools (ANCOPSS) and the State Executive, Nigerian Union of Teachers, on issues that border on the Society.

He reiterated that the Society will not relent in its efforts to support the present administration in its bid to make education of citizens its topmost priority.

In her response, the Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Hajia Sa'adatu Modibbo Kawu, appreciated the Executives of the Chemical Society of Nigeria, Kwara State Chapter, for their visit to the Ministry to intimate the Ministry with their productive plans, promising that the State government will continue to support all their good programmes.

Hajia Modibbo Kawu noted that their visit was timely, most especially, at a time that the present administration is making efforts to promote Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEMS) education  by recruiting the most qualified STEMS and other subjects teachers as well as making sure that students across the sixteen Local Government Areas had access to qualitative education.

Kwara TESCOM releases CBT results, to announce cutoffs ahead of interview, screenings

Kwara State Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM) said applicants for the public school teaching jobs can now check the results of the CBT done earlier on Saturday.  TESCOM Chairman Mallam Bello Taoheed said all the applicants who sat the test can access their results on the portal. "This is the first step after the exams. The Commission will soon release the cutoffs that would determine the candidates who proceed to the interview stage, among other things," he said. "At the end of the CBT, a total of 8,529 sat and completed the exam across the centres. The breakdowns are as follows: COED Ilorin, 2,891; Ilorin West LGA, 1,991; UNILORIN, 1,677; Lafiagi, 812; Offa, 586; Oko, 297; Patigi, 275. A total of 9,459 applicants had been invited for the CBT across the seven centres. The remaining applicants did not show up for the exercise. Kwara TESCOM Opens Application Portal for Teaching Jobs

Interested and qualified individuals can apply through: https://tescom.kwarastate.gov.ng .
