Kwara EU-SARAH Steering Committee Holds Maiden Meeting

The Kwara State European Union Strengthening Access to Reproductive and Adolescent Health (EU-SARAH) steering committee has held its maiden meeting yesterday with a charge to members to brace up for the task ahead, be steadfast and committed to the project to ensure its success in the State.

Addressing members of the Committee, the Chairperson who is also the State Commissioner for Health, Dr Amina Ahmed El-Imam, told the committee members that the meeting was aimed at contributing to effective programme implementation and enhanced impacts.

While highlighting the importance of the programme, the Commissioner, explained that the programme was aimed at strengthening access to reproductive and adolescent health in Kwara and two other states in Nigeria.

El-Imam recalled with excitement that attracting the project to the State could not have been possible without Governor AbdulRazaq's leadership quality, transparency and adoption of the best global practices.

She therefore, advised  members of the committee to work assiduously to complement the Governor's efforts, stressing that the programme is set to make a lasting impact by improving reproductive health service, particularly for women and adolescents, and strengthening the healthcare system in the targeted states.

The meeting was attended by the Commissioners for Planning, Women Affairs, Youths Development, Hon. Aliyu Sabi Kora, Hon. Afolashade Justina, Hon. Shehu Ndanusa; representative of the Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development and the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mrs Rebecca Olanrewaju Bake, representative of UNICEF, Abuja, Mrs Ibilola Olayinka and others.

In another development, the Commissioner also inaugurated onboarding of the State-level Committee for the National Health Fellows under the Sector-Wide Approach Programme (SWAP).

The Committee is comprised of the academia, traditional institutions, ALGON, representatives of the Ministry of Health and Primary Health Care Development Agency.

The Commissioner also inaugurated the Technical Committee for Sector-Wide Approach Programme (SWAP).

The initiative  was aimed at having a unified, effective and sustainable health sector through one plan, one budget, one conversation and one report across the health sector.

Kwara State Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM) said applicants for the public school teaching jobs can now check the results of the CBT done earlier on Saturday.  TESCOM Chairman Mallam Bello Taoheed said all the applicants who sat the test can access their results on the portal. "This is the first step after the exams. The Commission will soon release the cutoffs that would determine the candidates who proceed to the interview stage, among other things," he said. "At the end of the CBT, a total of 8,529 sat and completed the exam across the centres. The breakdowns are as follows: COED Ilorin, 2,891; Ilorin West LGA, 1,991; UNILORIN, 1,677; Lafiagi, 812; Offa, 586; Oko, 297; Patigi, 275. A total of 9,459 applicants had been invited for the CBT across the seven centres. The remaining applicants did not show up for the exercise. Kwara TESCOM Opens Application Portal for Teaching Jobs

•Urges applicants to adhere to rules spelt out in initial statement •Portal opens Wednesday, 5th February - Friday, 14th February, 2025 The Kwara State Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM) has released the application link for its teaching job openings. Interested and qualified individuals can apply through: https://tescom.kwarastate.gov.ng .
