Govt Calls on ETFs to Improve on Activities

Kwara State Government has called on the State Environmental Task Force (ETF), to intensify efforts at improving their activities, with the aim of achieving a better atmosphere, suitable for residents' well being.

The Commissioner for Environment, Hajia Nafisat Musa Buge made this call during an interface with some of the stakeholders, at the Ministry's conference today in Ilorin, the State Capital.

The Commissioner explained that, Environmental Health Officers (EHO), have been working towards a remarkable result, therefore charged them to be more proactive by putting more efforts, in order to achieve the desired goals

"We are quite impressed with what you do, however we want to see more of the good work, so that your earlier good deeds will not be erased. Table your  challenges for us to find lasting  solutions,  to further make your work easier.

"We want to achieve a world-class Kwara environment, beautifully and colourfully enough to attract visitors, and suitably fit to live a healthy life by residents, with no fear of contacting diseases. This is definitely achievable" She said

"Together, we can make Kwara State worth the while and visual friendly, to stand out among its sister States and indeed, the global community"  She added.

In this vein, Buge charged the Task Forces on ground to be more proactive and strive harder towards achieving greener environment.

The Commissioner greatly appreciated the Executive Governor of Kwara State, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, for his unwavering supports and persistence in achieving a healthy environment for all.

Earlier, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Environment, Dr. Abubakar Ayinla appealed to members of the Task Force at the meeting, not to relent at discharging their lawful duties, with a warning to be  vigilant and  take charge, in order to achieve the set goals.

The Director Environment, Mrs Mary Mustapha affirmed that, Ministry of Environment should be their first point of call officially, especially whenever issues arises and will be treated with utmost dispatch.

She also charged them to be observant and verify any report before escalating such,  to avoid misinformation as well wastage of resources.

Responding on behalf of other Task Force members present, the Chairman, Vigilante Group, Saadu Bolorunduro Enuokoroyin appreciated the State Government for providing a suitable atmosphere for them to operate, which has enhanced their job.

He assured the present administration of further dedication and steadfastness, towards the discharge of their duties.

 

Those at the meeting include Special Adviser to the Governor on Environment, Mr. Mohammed Muazu, Director of Personnel, Finance and Supply, Mr. Taiwo Okanlawon and Controller of Finance and Account, Mrs Latifat Anifowose. Others are; the Head of Department Climate Change, Mr. Illias Abdulganiy, Environmental Health Officers and members of Task Forces.
