KWSAPZ Project to Generate 15,000 Jobs - Busari
The Coordinator of the Kwara State Special Agro-Industrial Processing Zones (SAPZ) project, Engr. Dr. Busari Toyin Isiaka, has disclosed that the SAPZ project will generate fifteen thousand (15,000) jobs and boost the economic development of the host communities with small and medium enterprises for agriculture-related trades, through the formation of cooperatives as the project commences in the area.
He stated this today at Malete in Moro Local Government Area (LGA) of the State, where the sensitisation exercise was rounded off sequel to the nod of support by the Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development, and Chairman of the Technical Committee on Kwara SAPZ, Honourable Oloruntoyosi Thomas.
It would be recalled that the sensitisation team began the exercise at Olodan in Ifelodun LGA on the 5th of September.
The Agro-Industrial Hub (AIH) of the Kwara SAPZ Project will be located at Malete in Moro LGA, the site earmarked for the processing of dairy and beef.
Meeting with the representatives of the various communities around the Malete area, the State Project Coordinator disclosed that the SAPZ project is zone-based and designed to reduce post harvest waste through value addition to farm produce and livestock.
Busari, who noted that Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq is an inspirer of development, maintained that the project will create many opportunities and offer bumper harvests for farmers in the beneficiary communities.
He stated that the project will be financed with the loan secured from the Islamic Development Bank, adding that the Malete site will be central to other sites where the Agricultural Transformation Centres (ATCs) are situated.
The Coordinator informed that some consultants will visit the communities for baseline studies, documentary, profiling and mapping, among others to ensure the smooth take-off of the project.
Speaking on behalf of the representatives of the various communities present during the sensitization, the Mogaji of Malete, Alhaji AbdulRahman Babatunde Oreoluwa, thanked Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for envisioning development for Malete, through the project and many others since the inception of his administration.
He urged the government to work with the Alanguas and Magajis in the communities so that the residents will show acceptability and due hospitability.
He also enjoined the government to re-construct the Shao-Malete road to ease the movement of residents of the area and boost their economic activities.
The communities represented included Malete, Jenkunnu, Yeregi, Safari, Àjàgbé, Kogba, Budo-Are, Àpò Gunniyan, Biala, Monso, Atere, Eleguru, Tapa, Ago, Omoni Etile, Nigba and Olobi.
