KWMSD CALLS ON KW-GIS TO SECURE ENCROACHED LAND AT AMOYO REHABILITATION HOME

The Kwara State Ministry of Social Development has called on Kwara State Geographic and Information Services (KW-GIS) to assist in securing its accrued land at Amoyo Rehabilitation Home from those who have encroached it and maintaining environmental sanity around its headquarters.

The Commissioner for Social Development, Hon. Abosede Olaitan Buraimoh, made the call recently during a courtesy visit paid to the Executive Chairman, Kwara State Geographic and Information Services, Esv. Abdulkareem Babatunde Sulyman, at his office in Ilorin.

Hon. Buraimoh lauded the Agency for its laudable services, especially, giving the State Capital a remodeled and befitting outlook, which according to her, is in line with the visionary direction of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq's policy of New Ilorin City Master Plan. 

The Commissioner stressed the need for the Agency to wage in efforts to evacuate and lay off the erected buildings occupied by roadside traders around the Ministry's setback, as done in other parts of the State Secretariat, saying that their preoccupations constitute deface and serious environmental nuisance to the Ministry.

Hon. Buraimoh equally charged the Agency to help in making sure that its accrued land, along Maigida Estate, Amoyo, Ifelodun Local Government, dedicated for the use of Rehabilitation Department of the Ministry, is validated and duly registered.

She said the request became imperative owing to the recently spelt out passage of law by the Kwara State House of Assembly, Land Resolution Act, noting that the land has been partly encroached by some miscreants around the cited community, hence the need for the Ministry to take adequate step.

The Commissioner appealed that proactive steps be taken to secure the land in order to allow the Ministry enjoy full utility and benefits for which the land was dedicated for by the Kwara State Government.

In his response, the Executive Chairman, Kwara State Geographic and Information Services (KW-GIS), Esv. Abdulkareem Babatunde Sulyman, appreciated the visit, which he described as a welcome development, stating that the Agency will continue to discharge its statutory mandate and ensure that the policy trust of the State Government is upheld.

Esv. Sulyman disclosed that the Agency is aware of the State Legislative passage of the Land Resolution Act, assuring the Ministry that the concerned directorate of the Agency will carry out its assignments on the said land.

He however, enjoined the Ministry to take full possession of the land by erecting four-corner beacons and fencing to safeguard the land from possible encroachment in future time.
