KWGIS Collaborates with Environment Ministry on Cleaner Kwara

In its bid to ensure a clean, safe and healthy environment across the State, the Executive Chairman of the Kwara State Geographic Information Service (KWGIS), ESV Abdulkareem Babatunde Sulyman has assured the Kwara State Commissioner for Environment of a purpose driven collaboration towards achieving a cleaner State.

The Executive Chairman, disclosed this today, when the Commissioner, Hajia Nafisat Musa Buge paid a courtesy visit to the Lands Administration headquarters in Ilorin. 

According to him, "we are partners in progress and working towards the same goals and objectives, we are fully aware of your clean Kwara exercise and we are ready to collaborate with all MDAs working towards achieving the objectives of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq in his developmental strides and efforts towards a cleaner Kwara".

He expressed the support of KWGIS to the Ministry, especially now that the State has commenced the Federal Government's policy on the removal of shops and containers around government schools and establishments in order to sustain a clean and hygienic environment in the State.

He revealed that indiscriminate construction of shops and containers around schools and Government establishments have become endemic and pose numerous threats to the State.

He therefore reiterated the commitment of the Agency under his stewardship and leadership of Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, at making sure that the State is safe and healthy for residents. 

Earlier the Commissioner for the Ministry of Environment, Hajia Nafisat Musa Buge commended Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for his efforts at repositioning the State to attain good health and attract investors.

She appreciated the Executive Chairman, KWGIS, for the warm reception despite the short notice and commended him for the efforts at implementing the Federal Government's policy.

"We need your support to enforce shop owners to stay back after the drainage with the minimum of 3 meters to ensure zero obstructions to motorists and pedestrians," she said. 

While soliciting for his full cooperation in ensuring a clean Kwara, she assured him of the readiness of her Ministry to enforce environmental laws in areas where the KWGIS might also need their services.

Dignitaries at the meeting included the Administrative Secretary, of KWGIS, Mrs Adaran Motunrayo, the Legal Adviser Bar. Mrs Omolara Olubiyi, the State Surveyor General, Ibrahim Mohammed, Director, Lands Services, Esv. Abdulwahab AbdulRahman, Director Physical Planning, Tpl Abdulhakeem Abdulsalam,Tpl Awolola Adewole, Director Urban and Regional Planning, and other management staff.
