KWSG HANDS OVER FEDERAL GOVERNMENT SCIENCE AND TECHNICAL COLLEGE, GWANARA

The Kwara State  Government has handed over the  Federal Government Science and Technical College, Gwanara to the Federal Ministry of Education, describing the feat as another turning point in the present administration's commitment to revamp the education sector in the state. 

 The Kwara State Governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, who performed the handing over ceremony in the school premises in Gwanara, Baruten Local Government Area of the state recently, reiterated that the present administration will not rest on its oars at restoring the lost glory of education in the state.

The Governor, who was represented by the State Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Hajia Sa'adatu Modibbo Kawu, emphasised that the state government, under his watch is committed to changing the dynamism of education across the state and sought for cooperation of all and sundry to achieve the set goals.

According to Governor AbdulRazaq, "l am highly delighted to be part of this historic event in our state. This is another monumental achievement in the education sector in the state. It is another turning point in the commitment of the present administration to change the dynamism of education."

“Distinguished ladies and gentlemen, I want to inform you that one of the aspirations of this administration is the promotion of science and technical education in the state. This leads to the conversion of Government Secondary School, Gwanara to Federal Government Science and Technical College, Gwanara', he added.

The Governor appreciated the Federal Ministry of Education for the initiative and dedication to making the establishment of the school seamless and fruitful, explaining that a fair measure of this administration’s achievements was accomplished through  purposeful and visionary team members.

Governor AbdulRazaq therefore congratulated  Stakeholders, the host community, most especially, the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Salihu Yakubu Danladi and the Chairman House Committee on Education, Hon. Saliu Mohammed Baba Boriya and implored the community to take ownership of the projects by guiding it jealously.

In their separate goodwill messages, the Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Salihu Danladi Yakubu and the Chairman, House Committee on Education, Hon. Baba Saliu Mohammed Boriya, emphasised that siting and establishing the Federal Government Science and Technical College at Kwara North Senatorial District  further explained that “the mandate given to His Excellency was not compromised."

They unanimously lauded Governor AbdulRazaq for his administration’s passion and sincere commitment to meeting the educational needs of Kwarans, saying the handing over of the college would be of  great benefit to the host community, the Baruten Local Government, Kwara North Senatorial District and the state at large.

In her address, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development, Mrs. Olanrewaju Rebecca Bake, appreciated the Governor and the Federal Ministry of Education for fulfilling the promises and giving the people of Baruten, the Science and Technical College.

She noted that the establishment of the Federal Government Science and Technical College at Gwanara will improve the knowledge of  students in the axis.

The Emir of Gwanara, HRH, Alhaji (Dr.) Sabi Abdullahi Idris (OFR) Kotokotogi 11, thanked the Governor for his  unrelenting efforts at ensuring the growth and development of the community.

Earlier, the Director, Technology and Science Education Department, Federal Ministry of Education, Abuja, Mrs. Muyibat Adenike Olodo, applauded the Governor for his prompt response to provide three sites for the establishment of the college, explaining that "One of the sites is the Gwanara Community where we are celebrating the handing over today."

At the event were the Chairmen of the House Committee Members, other Traditional Rulers in Baruteen, Special Adviser, Fulani Herdsmen, Hajia Aishat Yusuf, the Team Leader of Representatives of Federal Ministry of Education, Dr. (Mrs.) Uhuegbu Stella Ihinoma among other dignitaries.
